よって、3人は1人9ドル、3人で27ドル支払ったことになり、ホテルマンが自分のものにした2ドルを合わせると29ドルになる
So, three people paid $ 9 for one person and $ 27 for three people, which combined the $ 2 that the hotelman had for himself was $ 29.

あれ？残り1ドルはどこへ消えた？that? Where did the remaining $ 1 disappear?

問題文の矛盾に気付けるかがポイント
The key is to be able to recognize contradictions in the problem statement.

3人が支払った27ドルは何に対して支払っているのか考える
Consider what the three paid for the $27.

27ドルの内訳は、3人のキャンペーン料金の25ドルに、受付の人が自分のものにした2ドルを合わせたもの
The $27.00 includes the $25.00 campaign fee for the three of us plus the $2.00 that the receptionist made her own.

つまり、この27ドルには受付の人が自分のものにした2ドルが入っているので、さらに受付の人が自分のものにした2ドルを足すのがおかしい
I mean, this $27 includes $2 that the receptionist made his own, so it's not right to add another $2 that the receptionist made his own!

では、27ドルに何を足せば良いかというと、3人に返された3ドル
So, what do you add to the $27, $3 returned to the three

この3ドルを足すことで、30ドルになるため、1ドルはどこにも消えていない
Adding this $3.00 brings the total to $30.00, so $1.00 is nowhere to be found.
