環境がとても大切だということ。

昨日のお話の続きです。

シュタイナー小学校では、とにかく

想像と創造を豊かにする授業ばかりでした。

例えば、外で好きな風景を見つけて絵を描いたり、

地下にある工房で木の塊を削って磨いて器を作ったり、

woodwork at the basement workshop and make your own bowl by curving it and polishing it with sandpaper, 

“自分人形”を毛糸で編んだり、

knitting a doll of yourself,

算数は、机の上に立って、挙手制で答えが当たった人から座れる、というゲームみたいな時間だったり、

mathematics class was like a game where you have to stand up on the desk and answer the question as fast as you can to get seated,

小学1〜3年生の間にドイツ語とスペイン語を習い始めたり。

and even begin studying German and Spanish.

学校のすぐ隣にあるセントラル・パークは、

Central Park right next to school

毎日の最高の遊び場でした。

was the best playing ground to explore everyday.

他にも、ハロウィーンには手作り衣装を着て登校したり、

Also, we all wear a handmade costumes on Halloween day,

牧場へお泊りに行ったり、

went to farm for camping, 

バイオリンの授業があったり、

had violin classes,

思い返せば、どれ一つを取っても

thinking back each and every memories,

かけがえのない貴重な経験でした。

they were all irreplaceable experiences.

常にのびのびと、感性を研ぎ澄ます、

It was such a wonderful circumstance where

そんな素晴らしい環境だったなぁと思います。

I'm sure I was literally able to sharpen my sensitivities.

ここで私が出会った先生やお友達やそのご家族、

I am so grateful for my teachers, friends

そして、この経験をさせてくれた家族には

and their families and most of all my family 

本当に心から感謝しています。

who always was my most powerful supporter.

私も将来、そんな経験をさせてあげられるような

I hope to be a parent like them

親になりたいものです。

in the future.
