　日頃より皆様には大変お世話になっております。eitoeikoでは7/6より7/27まで、白須純 展「FOR YOU BLUE」を開催いたします。弊廊では2010年の初個展より4年ぶり4度目の個展となります。
　白須純は1965年東京に生まれ、武蔵野美術大学卒業後に渡英しました。大学に続き版画を専攻したロンドン大学スレード美術学校で師事したポルトガル人教授より、アズレージョ（ポルトガルタイル）の技法を学び、ポルトガルのパルメラ駅（2007）と人口第三位の都市ヴィラ・ノヴァ・デ・ガイア市庁舎前広場（2018）には、白須が制作した壁画が設置されています。
　16世紀以降途絶えることなく500年にわたって受け継がれる装飾文化との邂逅は、作家にとって版画とともに中心的な表現手法となっています。複数枚をまたぐ巨大壁画とは異なり、白須が1枚のタイルに落とし込んだ小さな世界は短歌や俳句のように日々を紡ぐ1柵となっています。ジョージ・ハリスンが書いた軽妙なカントリー・ブルースのように、シンプルで味わい深い作品をお楽しみください。

FOR YOU BLUE

eitoeiko is pleased to present For You Blue, a solo exhibition by Jun Shirasu from 6 to 27 July. This will be the artist's fourth solo exhibition at our gallery in four years, since his first exhibition in 2010.
Jun Shirasu was born in Tokyo in 1965 and moved to the UK after graduating from Musashino Art University. He studied azulejos (Portuguese tiles) under a Portuguese professor at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, where he studied printmaking. Encountering the decorative culture that has been produced uninterruptedly for 500 years since the 16th century, it has become a core form of expression for the artist, along with printmaking.
At the exhibtion, unlike the large-scale murals that span multiple sheets, Shirasu has captured a daily narrative story and translate into the single tile like a tanka or haiku poem. Please take a moment to discover these simple and tasteful works, like the easy-going country blues written by George Harrison.
