A preparing way for my mistake

I commonly make a mistake when looking at some reading words:

  • through

  • though

  • thought

  • bought

  • brought

Reading on in order from the head of a sentence, if my old eye sees a mistake in some word, I wonder about the strange meaning of the next word, then I notice the right spelling of the word.

After knowing how it's made a mistake myself, then I consider what to do.

I looked for similar words.
The similar words are like the following:

  • slough

  • plough              * British English, the word "plow" in American

  • enough

  • cough

  • dough

  • rough

  • tough

  • sough

  • sought

  • fought

  • nought              * British English, the word "naught" in American

  • trough

  • drought

  • wrought             * old word

  • ought

  • throughput

  • throughout

Wow, after looking for them, there are quite a lot.

If I understand all the words like the above list, I think I can notice it early by increasing as a possibility.
Would it be a bit wild way?

Hmm, for some reason I'm curious about the "ough" part of each.
But the phonetic signs are various.

     thought    /θɔːt/
     though      /ðəʊ/
     enough      /ɪˈnʌf/
     cough        /kɔːf/

As like this, I go into aside way…
