Trying using the words lie and lay

My brain is way too tired.

I heard from my heart, "Today, stop and sleep."
"Even if I lie down, will I be able to sleep?" I suspected.
In unease, I laid my body.
I lay in but didn't sleep yet.

As I lay, I try to lie to myself, "So sleepy."
Though I tried lying, I still can't sleep as I thought.
After I lied, my brain still kept working.

Now, lying on, I'm counting sheep.
