Counter つ(tsu) ... to count anything!

Counter: つ (tsu)
Things to count: Any objects (apart form those living - people, animals etc. )

How many: いくつ(ìk(u)tsu)

1つ / 一つ (h(i)tò tsu)
2つ / 二つ (f(u)tà tsù)
3つ / 三つ (mit tsù)
4つ / 四つ (yot tsù)
5つ / 五つ (itsù tsu)
6つ / 六つ (mut tsù)
7つ / 七つ (nanà tsu)
8つ / 八つ (yat tsù)
9つ / 九つ (kokòno tsu)
10 / 十 (tòo)

Q. For more than 10?
>> This counter つ(tsu) is applied for 1 to 9 only since this was the first counter invented in Japan when the mathematics wasn’t established yet.
>> For bigger numbers, we use 個(ko) to count. I’ll post about it as well shortly!

Q. What is different from those numbers read as いち(ichi), に(ni), さん(san) ?
>> Those numbers starting with いち(ichi) are mainly used for mathematical things and as an index such as seat numbers etc. Those we’re learning here (ひとつ(hitotsu)...) are used to count things in conversations. Also this counter sounds more gentler and warmer than another one (いち(ichi)...).

: (I/We’ll have) two Gyudon combos, please.
...牛丼(gyuù dòń): Gyudon the tasty grilled-beaf on rice
...セット(sètto): set, combo
...お願いします(ònègàì shìmàsu): please, I’m asking you

・3つ買うと4つ目無料!
(mittsù kàù tò yottsùmè muryòù)
: Buy three and get the 4th (product) free!
...買う(kaù): to buy
...[verb]と(to): when~, ~ and then
...[counter]目(me): ~st/nd/rd/th
...無料(mu ryòù): free (for fee)
