塾生が作ったテキスト　

「日本英語の私塾」では、テキストは塾生が作るが、中学一年生の高橋君は次のようなテキストを作った。テキストは本文と対話編で構成される。

ぼくの名前は森田太平洋です。だれもがタイヘイヨウと読みますが、オーシャンです。英語のオーシャンです。どうしてこのような名前が付けられたかというと、ぼくの父と母はアメリカで生活していたわけです。父の仕事がアメリカだったから。それでぼくがお母さんのなかにつくられたというか、妊娠したとき、お母さんはぼくを母の実家で生みたいといって、飛行機ではなくて、ゆったりと船の旅で日本に帰ってきたわけです。そしたらその途中で生まれたのです。つまり太平洋の海の上で。それで太平洋とつけられて、最初はタイヘイヨウでしたが、しかし小学校の五年生のとき、英語のわかるやつがいて、ぼくをオーシャンって呼んだんです。それでクラス全員で呼ばれるようになって、それからは、ぼくの名前をオーシャンにしました。これがぼくの正式の名前です。ですからぼくをオーシャンと呼んで下さい。

A　私も元気よ、ねえ、あなたのこと訊いていい?
B　もちろん。いいよ。
A　あなたが一番好きな科目は？
B　ぼくは数学だな。君は？
A　私は国語。
B　国語か、じゃあ、君が一番嫌いな科目は？
A　数学ね、あなたが一番嫌い科目は？
B　国語だな。
A　あなたの一番好きな科目が、私の一番嫌いな科目で。
B　ぼくの一番嫌いな科目が、君の一番好きな科目なんだ。
A　私たちは正反対ね。二番目に好きな科目は？
B　音楽だな。
A　ああ、あたしも音楽。あなたはどんな音楽が好きなの？
B　ぼくは子供のころピアノを習ってたんだ。
A　そうなの。
B　でも小学校二年生のとき、やめちゃった。
A　そうなんだ。
B   挫折しちゃったんだ。いまでは後悔している。
A　でもまた始めたら。
B　もう無理だな。
A　そんなことないよ、あたしはまだピアノ習ってんのよ
B　えっ、そうなんだ、いつか君のピアノきかせて。
A　いいわよ。
B　君のピアノを聴いたら、また始めようと思うかもね。
A　あたしのピアノが下手だから？　おれの方がうまく弾けるって？
B　そうじゃないよ、君のピアノに感動してだよ。

   塾生たちが作り出したテキストを、今度は翻訳ソフトを使って英文にしていく。高橋君は次のような英文にした。
 
My name is Taiheiyo Morita. Everyone says Taiheiyo, but it's Ocean. Ocean in English. The reason why I was given this name is because my father and mother lived in America. Because his father's job was in America. That's why I was created by my mother, and when she became pregnant, she said she wanted to give birth to me in her mother's family home, so instead of flying by plane, she returned to Japan on a leisurely boat trip. . B　The subject I hate the most is your favorite subject.
A　We are polar opposites. What is your second favorite subject?
B　Music.
A　Ah, I'm also like music. what kind of music do you like?
B　I learned to play the piano when I was a child.
A　Oh, that’s great.
B   But I quit when I was in the second grade of elementary school.
A　Why did you stop to play piano?
B   I got frustrated. I regret it now.
A　But what if you start again?
B   It's impossible.
A　It's not like that, I'm still learning the piano
