Not Only Christmas! スペインで年末年始を過ごすなら1月6日まで楽しんで

スペインの離島からこんにちは。

師走ですね。
It's already December, wow.

12月といえばクリスマスですが、ここスペインには
サンタクロースが存在しません!
Christmas is the biggest event in December, but
there's no Santa Claus here in Spain! 

🎅「な、なんやて？みんな悪い子なん？」
 "Wha, what? Is everyone bad kid?"

最近はサンタクロースもるんですが、プレゼントは12月25日の朝ではなく、
1月6日の朝に届くものなんです🎁
Actually there is Santa Claus recently, but traditionally, presents arrive on 6th of  January instead of 25th of December.

🎅「な、なんやて？スペインはシエスタがあるからサンタも遅いんか？」
 "Wha, What? Since you guys have siesta, Santa Claus gets late?"

スペインでは、プレゼントを運んでくるのは三賢者。
Reyes de magos もしくは Reyes magos de oriente と呼ばれており、
1月6日はDía de los Reyesです。
Who bring presents are the three wise men here in Spain.
They are called Reyes de magos or Reyes magos de oriente,
and it's Día de los Reyes on 6th of January.

🎅「誰それ？三人おるの？」
"Who are they? Three guys?"

はい、その通りです。では、どんな日なのか見てみましょう！
Yeah, exactly. Okay, let's check what it is!

Día de los Reyesとは？
What is Día de los Reyes?

『キリストの誕生を祝うために、東方から彗星に導かれた三賢者がベツレヘムにやってくる』という聖書の物語が起源となっています。
It originates from a biblical story that "Three wise men led by a comet from the east come to Bethlehem to celebrate the birth of Christ."

三賢者が黄金・乳香・没薬をキリストの誕生祝いとしたことに倣い、この日にプレゼントを贈ります。
Following that they made gold, frankincense, and myrrh celebration of the birth of Christ, people give presents on this day.

なので、スペインでは
サンタクロースからではなく三賢者から頂く
というのが伝統です。
Then, this is the traditional style that
"Present will be given by the three wise men, not Santa Claus".

Make a Party with a Special Cake!

日本は春の七草で胃腸を休める時期ですが、スペインではそうはいきません。
Although it's a moment to make our stomach rest in Japan, Spanish don't.

さらに食べて、さらに飲んで、甘いものまで食べちゃおうという日です😱
It's a day to eat more, drink more and enjoy sweets..

この日に欠かせないのが Roscon de rayes と呼ばれるお菓子。
It's a necessary that a sweets called Roscon de rayes.

大きな円のケーキで、たっぷりのクリームや果物の砂糖漬けなどが埋め込まれています（甘いもの苦手なので胃が痛くなってきた）
It's a round cake that with a sweet, creamy filling inside and candied fruit adorning the top. (As I'm not a big fan of sweets, I feel stomachache)

このケーキを使ってゲームをするのがスペイン流。
It's a Spanish style that play game with this cake.

クリームの中に陶器の王様の人形とそら豆が入っています。
There are a small pottery doll of king and a broad bean inside.

王様が当たった人はその日の主役
そら豆が当たった人は翌年のRoscon de rayesを買う
というルールです（地域によって色々）
A person who takes the doll is the king of the day, and
a person who takes the bean needs to buy the cake next year.
(the rule is depends on the area)

他の国では？
How about Other Countries?

カトリックの教えでは重要な一日で、イタリアとフランスでは「エピファニア」という名前でも親しまれています。
It's an important day in Catholic, and called Epifania in Italy and France.

イタリアでは魔女のベファーナが、
いい子にはお菓子を、悪い子には炭を靴下の中に入れていきます。
In Italy, Befana, a witch, put candies into the socks of good kids,
and put charcoals into bad kid's ones.

フランスではガレット・デ・ロワというお菓子で、スペインと同じようにこの日の主役を選び新年を祝います。
In France, they celebrate and select king of the day by a cake, galette des rois, like in Span.

スペインの年末年始は？
When is the Holiday Season in Spain?

だいたい12月24日から1月6日までがホリデーシーズン。
Normally, 24/12 - 6/1 is the holiday season here.

クリスマスを祝う"Feriz Navidad"や、”Feliz Fiestas”が恒例の挨拶になってきます。
We say "Feriz Navidad" (Merry Christmas), and also ”Feliz Fiestas” (Happy holidays) for all.

言い忘れましたが、クリスマスの12月25日は家族・親族が集まって、朝から晩まで、ずっと食べて飲んで大騒ぎですよ。
Oops, absolutely Christmas Day is the biggest party day with families and relatives to eat and drink from the morning till the night.
