Equality?

I had a notion before. It was that all man are equal regardless of color, physical stature etc. It was that what all of humanity really want is to have peace, to be safe, to not worry about tomorrow. I thought if all mankind were given these things, this would end tension, racialism, tribalism and general segregation.

Inequality is introduced from the moment of conception ...

Today I had a different revelation. Equality is a state that exists only in an ideal world. Inequality is introduced from the moment of conception. We are born into different races, into families of different social and financial statuses, not to mention our natural abilities. .. 

Equality would still not exist even in an ideal society set up with the same of everything innate and obtainable. We could point the finger at the desire to acquire more (than others). The concept is that you can only get more by taking more from someone else.

What society can actually work on is fairness. Fairness in awarding opportunities, rewarding effort etc. At least we have control over these few.
