Changi Business Park And Its Wildlife

Another week has passed and there were some thoughts lingering in my mind, made up of some important decisions I have to make. These can be life-changing for me which I should not take lightly and may concern my path in the future. Staying home pondering about the outcome from the choices I am going to make wasn't really helpful with the process. Once again, I needed some fresh air and decided to visit Changi Business Park which is one train station away from my home with an additional 10 minutes’ walk.

As the name implies, Changi Business Park is a business park comprising of many multinational companies from different industries with one of the largest exhibition centres in Southeast Asia, the Singapore Expo, located nearby.

Being a bustling area with office crowd from Mondays to Fridays, I believe it should be quiet on weekends and thought I may get lucky to see some beautiful wildlife here. While on the train, I was hoping to see Kingfisher birds because there are 2 ponds which may act as food source for these little fish hunters.

The first bird to greet me upon arrival was the Black-naped Oriole.

Approaching the pond area, I saw a Red-eared Slider turtle sunbathing on the surface of a rock but no sight of any Kingfishers.

I walked towards a little bridge to have a wider view of the park but the calling sound of a woodpecker nearby caught my attention. Thinking it may be on the tree beside me, I tried to search for the woodpecker through my camera's viewfinder, and to my surprise, a pair of wide open eyes sent a rush of excitement through me instead.

Buffy Fish Owl

I have made several attempts to search for the Buffy Fish Owl at another park but without any success at all. It was my lucky day indeed! Seeing the owl was definitely the highlight of this trip. From what I learned, owls are nocturnal and they rest through the day, so I should not spend too much time bothering this little friend. So before leaving, I bowed my head and whispered to the owl, "Thank you for appearing before me today and it made me very happy. I am also sorry for disturbing your rest.", and I continued exploring other areas.

As I ventured on, I captured photos of other birds and wildlife which I'd like to share here.

And, the last bird I saw was the Long-tailed Shrike before heading home on foot.

The best decision I made that day was making a trip to Changi Business Park. Although I did not see any Kingfisher in the end but I was really happy to see the Buffy Fish Owl and other birds. It really helped clearing my mind and made me feel lighter mentally after I went home that day.

Before ending this post, here are another 2 more photos of Changi Business Park which I took many years ago in infrared light.
