こちらの本はMaxという可愛い仔猫が「Max is a brave kitten.  Max is a kitten who chases mice」ということで・・・ネズミを探しに行くお話しです。

子供に読みながら「Are You My Mother?」という絵本に似ているなと思いましたが、シンプルなストーリーについてくる、素敵な絵に大人ながらに心が温まりました。そしてMaxがネズミを探している時の表情、ネズミじゃなくて驚いている表情がとても豊かで見ていて愛らしいです。

そんな愛らしいMaxをNew York Timesはこのように表現しています。

'Max is an expressive huge-eyed black ball of kinetic kittenness who pops against each page’s bright, differently colored background. Kids will be tickled that they can distinguish a mouse and a monster while Max doesn’t, and — spoiler alert — the monster is more funny than scary.' 　　　　　　　The New York Times -
