千年の時が経ても変わらぬ風景。[比叡山延暦寺Ⅴ] A landscape that has not changed even after a thousand years.

延暦寺の秋は美しい。厳かな空気を感じる風景に出会えるのは数々あるが、ここ比叡山延暦寺の空気はまた違うような気がした。山の奥深く人の気配を感じさせないこの地で、千年のときを経ても変わらない神仏への尊崇の営みがある。
訪れた日は、雨露に濡れた葉が雨後の陽射しに輝いていた。

Autumn at Enryakuji is beautiful. There are many places where you can see the scenery that feels harsh air, but I felt that the air here at Hieizan Enryaku-ji is different. It is a place deep in the mountains where you can not feel the presence of people, and there is a work of reverence for the Buddhas that have not changed even after 1000 years.
On the day I visited there, the leaves wet with raindrops were shining in the sunlight after the rain.

横川地区の核となる御堂である横川中堂は、舞台造りと鮮やかな朱塗りの建物が紅葉に映えていた。848年に根本観音堂として創建、本尊には聖観音菩薩像が安置されている。
At Yokogawa Chudo, the central hall of the Yokogawa district, the stage construction and vivid vermilion-painted buildings reflected the autumn colors. Founded in 848 as the Konpon kannondo, the statue of Bodhisattva Holy Kannon is enshrined in the main temple.

神道と仏教が融合し一つの信仰体系として再構成された神仏習合。各寺院でもよく見かける鳥居や社。明治になるまで神仏習合は長く続いた。延暦寺の山麓で静かにたたずむ社があった。
Shinto and Buddhist rituals that combine Shinto and Buddhism to be reconstructed as a system of faith. Torii and shrines often seen in each temple. Until the Meiji era, Shinto and Buddhist training continued long. There was a Shinto shrine that quietly nestled at the foot of Enryaku-ji Temple.

登る道中、随所で見られる琵琶湖。山間から臨む琵琶湖は、雨後の靄にかすんでいた。
Lake Biwa can be seen everywhere on the way. Lake Biwa overlooking the mountains was hazy in the haze after the rain.
