平安初期に開山された「醍醐寺」。ご承知のとおり、世界文化遺産である。
伽藍のほぼ中心部にある醍醐寺の正門、西大門(仁王門)の両脇に木造の金剛力士像が安置されている。
開口の阿形像と口を結んだ吽形像2像が忿怒の形相で睨みをきかせていた。
よく見ると、他寺の仁王像に比べてどことなく穏やかな表情がうかがえる。
大きめの頭部に対し体部はやや細身。全身にまだらの模様が見られるは、長年の風雨による補修跡のようである。
Daigo-ji Temple was opened in the early Heian period. As you know, it is a World Cultural Heritage.
There are wooden statues of Kongo Rikishi on both sides of the main gate of Daigo-ji Temple and Seidaimon (Niomon), which is located in the center of the cathedral.
Two statues of Agyo of the opened mouth and Ungyo of the closed mouth were glaring at the appearance of anger.
If you look closely, you can see a somewhat calm expression compared to the Nio statues at other temples.
The body is slightly slender compared to the large head. The mottled pattern on the whole body seems to be a repair mark due to many years of wind and rain.
しばらく睨み合ってみたが、まばたきもせずに凝視する眼光は、木面が剥がれ変色しているものの鋭かった。
I gazed at each other for a while, but the eye gaze staring at me without blinking was sharp, although the wood surface had peeled off and discolored.
