The danger of frameworks - Dec. 16, 2023.

I'm working on my thesis about gender, focusing on masculinity and manhood. Lately, I've noticed that using a framework makes understanding topics easier, but it can be limiting because it makes me feel like I need to follow certain rules. The idea that "men should do ○○" or "men should be ○○" can be helpful in some situations. But it's important to remember that this can also force people to fit into a specific mold, which isn't always good. Frameworks help us understand things more easily, which is a plus. However, they can also lead to forming prejudices and biases, which is a downside. Everything likely has these complex aspects.
