How can I describe Japanese Sake to foreigners? - Nov. 30, 2023.

I have a part-time job at a liquor shop, and I’m in charge of displaying various kinds of liquor and selling them to customers. Yesterday, two British guys came and asked me, "What is the best sake for a first trial?" It was a difficult question because there were many famous sake brands at our store, such as Hakkaisan, Kubota, and Kamotsuru. Also, I realized it was challenging to explain the sake-making process and the taste in English. I recommended Kamotsuru to them because there was Gold Kamotsuru, which was served at the G7, so I could easily explain it to them. Moreover, it was Daiginjo, a mid-rank Japanese sake, so I thought it would be the best for a first try.

Actually, we had a sake that we needed to sell to increase our sales, but I felt like recommending others. My boss said, "We say this is the best Japanese sake, it's good, and they will buy it." Isn't that impolite to travelers? His words don’t explain anything, haha. It's just because I dislike his impolite and insincere attitude, so I feel like ignoring his instructions. Haha.

I have to study and gain knowledge about Japanese sake to describe it in English, and I'll try to introduce products lively and accurately to customers.
