I've been doing daily notes for three months now and I'm paying attention (part 2).
Once you reach the goal, you have to set a new goal and start running again.
Life is like a never-ending marathon.
You keep running to that distant telephone pole and then you keep running to the next one.
After achieving 100 articles on NOTE, there are three things I thought about next.
(1) I want to anticipate how my psychology will change and take action. (I'll probably get complacent and quit after achieving 100 articles, so I'll figure out a way to continue.
(2) I want to develop other habits, but I don't want to neglect NOTE because of it.
(3) Tying other goals to the NOTE makes them a habit together (involvement).
(1) I want to anticipate how my psychology will change and take action. (I'll probably quit, satisfied with having achieved 100 articles, so I'll figure out a way to keep going.
I wanted to avoid burnout.
I've had a bitter experience in the past.
I've achieved big goals, but before I knew it, all I wanted to do was "just achieve the goal" and I lost sight of what I wanted to do after that.
In note, I was in a state where all I wanted to do was write 100 articles, even though what I really wanted to acquire was the ability to write.
I realized that this problem was probably going to confront me around the time I posted 80 articles to NOTE.
In the past, I would have just written 100 articles and that would have been the end of it.
This time, I needed to get over that barrier.
So, I took measures to avoid ending up with 100 articles.
Before posting the 100th article, I made some drafts.
I tried to write them in the morning.
I wrote a few drafts before my 100th article and wrote it in the morning.
It's difficult to make 1 from 0, but I was able to continue with it if I left a draft of what I wrote up to the middle.
This measure has helped me to still keep posting every day.
Anticipating my psychological state, hitting the countermeasures in advance, and overcoming them was a very important experience.
I think this technique can be applied to other habits in my life as well.
(2) I want to develop other habits, but I don't want to neglect NOTE because of it.
Once you've developed one habit, it's a natural idea to want to try new habits as well.
For example, I could think of many things I would like to do, like lose weight through muscle training or learn English.
But it would be a waste of time if I neglected the habits I had worked so hard to develop by setting my sights on a new goal.
I decided that if I wanted to learn another new habit, I should find a way to do it while continuing my current one.
(3) Tying other goals to the NOTE makes them a habit together (involvement).
For example, I thought, "If you want to make strength training a habit, you should make a daily strength training note in note.
That way, you can keep posting daily notes on your note, and you can also make muscle training a habit.
If you think, "Oh, I haven't written anything in my notes yet, I have to train my muscles. I've been studying English for a while now.
This time, I've decided to link my English study to my current habit.
By translating what I wrote in my notes into English, I planned to develop my English composition skills.
I'm still in the process of using machine translation as well, but I think you'll learn far more by memorizing sentences that you think of in your head in English than by memorizing examples from a textbook.
I'm not a test taker, so I need to learn English that I can actually use rather than the English that will appear on the test.
I expect to memorize sentences and phrases that I often use in English, which will be useful when I work abroad.
That's why my notes come with English translations.
The next story I'm going to write is a story about the positive impact on my work from a NOTE daily post.
It was a story about me completing 100 articles and trying new things while continuing to post a NOTE daily post.
Tomorrow, I'll write a story about how my work was positively affected by the daily note posts.
