２回βTOEIC &TOEFL用単語リスト

第2回であります。

ちなみに、私はあえて単語の発音は載せないようにしています。

カタカナでアプロクスァメィトゥリとか、記号みたいやつですね。

理由としては、単語単体で言っても通じないことが圧倒的に多いからです。

approximateとかconvenientはまあ、特徴的なんで例外かもしれませんが、formalとかperiodとかはなかなか単体では厳しいのではないかと。

さらに、今や世界で活躍する人の約８0％がノンネイティブであるそうなので、正しい発音をしても通じない！なんてことはありましょう。

アメリカ人だと思ったらイタリア人だったとか普通にあるんでね？ね。

また、私を励ますために言ってくれたのか不明ですが、お客さんとしてきたおじいさんが、「隣の州に行くと同じ単語でも全然アクセント違うから、大丈夫だよ！」みたいに言ってくれたこともありました。

確かに、TED等を見ていると「どう聞いてもそうは言ってないだろ…」みたいな字幕とかありますから笑

なんで、文章の塊を長押し選択してもらって、翻訳→period of time とか　series of developmentsを１つの単語のように、発音とセットで覚えるのがオススメです。

では、スタート。

approximately〈E，F〉

"Approximately" means …

close to
or
nearly,
but not exactly.
It's used
when giving an estimate
or
an approximate value,
rather than
an exact number
or
measurement.
Same means as “about“.
But situation is slightly different .
Approximately suit more formal occasion,

・The meeting will last approximately one hour
・This meal will take approximately 15minute．
well，it's crowded.

convenient〈E，F〉

adj

"Convenient" and "convenience" are related but have different meanings and uses.

Convenient describes…

something that is easy to use,
helpful,
or
fits well
with your needs
or schedule.


・This location is convenient for shopping
・Thanks for you telling me convenient phrase!

What the matter is  "convenient" describes something．

but it took some time
or
happened after other events.

・She struggled with the problem
for hours,
but eventually,
she found the solution.

Eventually implies
a gradual process
or
a delay
before the final outcome is achieved.

Execute means …

to carry out,

action.
It can also refer to
the act of completing or accomplishing something.

The term can be used in various contexts, four wrote,

１,Generally,
perform or complete a task or action.  

・He executed the plan perfectly.

２,To carry out a legal sentence,
often referring to the death penalty.

・The prisoner was executed after the final appeal was denied.

３,Computing.
To run a program or command.

・The software will execute the instructions
given by the user.

４,Formal Documents.
To sign a legal document,
making it official.

・They executed the contract yesterday.

hardly〈E〉

adv



Hardly means …

almost not
or
bary.
often used part of speech.

To indicate that
something is done
with difficulty
or
is very unlikely.

In summary,  barely the case,

・She could hardly hear the music from the back of the room.

Placed after “can“ or “will“,
before verb.

hardy〈F〉

adj

hardy describes …

something that is tough and resilient.

And strong,
robust,
and
able to endure difficult conditions.

It is often used
to describe people,
animals,
or
plants
that can withstand harsh environments
or
tough situations.

So if you want to talk the situation,context…
the term “hard “ suit well.

・The hardy plants survived the winter frost.
・The hardy people can show you our true personality traits.

ちなみに、上記の定義や説明はほぼＡＩが生成してくれていますが、別のＡＩの添削等にかけるとちょっとだけど直すところがあったりします。

直すと言っても別の単語を提案してくれる程度ですが。

また、ＡＩの情報が嘘だ！とかハルシネーションが！という話もありますが、文法は決まりきっているためかなり参考になるんじゃないかと思います。

approximately はaboutと同じ「約、おおよそ」という意味ですが、研究とかビジネス等よりフォーマルな場で使われるようです。

convenientとcanvenience 、eventuallyとeventual は何となく分かりますね。

eventuallyの「最終的な」に、結果に達するまでいろいろあってからの、みたいな意味が入ってるのはマジすばらしい。

executeは処刑する、という意味以外はかなり応用が効くようです。

例のごとくテストではバツをつけられるかもしれませんが。

hardlyとhardyは１字違いですが、かなり意味が変わってくるようです。

あとは、動物や人の場合はhardy、状況や場面においてはhardが合っているようです。
