アメリカのWall Street Journalの編集者リサ・ミラーさんが2015年に書いたこの記事が今日はビビビッと刺さりました。
The simple reason that older women with ambition don’t stick around. They dial back, drop out, start their own thing. They want more control, flexibility; they find themselves trapped in one more meeting listening to one more self-serving anecdote by one more male superior who feels no urgency to head on home, and they reach their limit.
彼女は、40歳以上の年老いた女性が、各オフィスに一人はいるべきと説いています。ちなみに、ダウジョーンズの調べによると、最低1人でもシニアエグゼクティブに女性がいる企業は、男性だけが経営陣に存在する企業よりも優れているそうです(2012年の調べ)

Women over 40 are the fastest-growing segment of the workforce, but these women are not bossing people around: They’re nurses and admins and part-time clerks and home health aides.
女性は結婚しているしていないに関係なく、やはり「母性」が備わっているのではないでしょうか。仕事の面でそれが発揮された時、男性とは違う視点、男性とは違う価値観をもって物事に対処する。そうすることで、その組織がさらに深みのあるものに成長することができるのかもしれません。
