The Half of My Life That Is Already Over
< COLUMN. vol.13 >
(Japanese and English ver.)
○Japanese ver.

○English ver.
The theorem called for by French Philosopher, Paul Janet is the apparent length of a period of time is proportional to our life span itself. Given that a person's life is 80 years old, notionally, half of the life you experience is over by age 19. If I ask him, the other half of my life is over.
It’s been almost two years since I stuck. Who imagined that this world would continue like this so long. Out of the ordinary days have become routine for us. Even though half my life was over, and then I saw only 5% of the world.
There are plenty of places where I want to go and should go, but there is a limit to the number you can go in your lifetime. It would be difficult to get all done. I knew it in my head, but when I put it into words, I felt like I was hit by reality, and I was upset.
I’ve been thinking that time would have gone by without seeing the world I should. If this stuck-life would have continued, the whole my life may end without going to most of places, where I was thinking “Let’s go someday”, which is terrifying me.
Although, the planet has been stopped. We still cannot fly out somewhere freely. What can I do?

That’s why I made a list of the places where I wanna go after corona by using Google Map. It has a very useful function that we can put on pins the places, save them, and make a list for yourself.
In the beginning, I just pinned famous locations as long as I can think of. I also started putting on some photogenic spots from instagram and magazines, and local sites I’ve heard from people later.
When I’m doing that, I feel like looking at such a small world because one pin is jumping to the next. It might be a bit difficult to grasp where it exactly is while I see defined details of the map. I need to broaden to perceive them. It is also fun to realize that some places are familiar with others where I pinned.
Starting doing this, now I explore the map by myself and find new spots. Once I zoom out, I am overwhelmed again by the number of pins. Nevertheless, something will change.

So, for now, I’m waiting for the day when we can finally travel again while updating my list and I've already decided that I will definitely enjoy the moment as if there's no tomorrow when the time comes. I don’t leave behind anything, anymore.
The world I can touch and see might be a part of map throughout life. Even so, I really want to spend on my life for how much I can paint the map.
