AmPm 〜時間の書き方レッスン〜

Found a minor error in the way the times are written on a sign of a restaurant. 🕚

The “Am” and “Pm” precede numbers that look like times, so one can infer that they indicate “a.m.” and “p.m.” 🌅🌠

We see a variety of errors, such as “AM/PM” and “am/pm”, but this was the first time to see them in this format. 😯

We thought we’d take this as an opportunity to suggest the correct ways to write a.m. and p.m. 👩🏻‍🏫✨

レストランの看板で見つけた「時間表記」の間違いです。

この「時間表記」については、さまざまなところで誤った表現を目にします。

たとえば、11AM、12 PM、10am、18 pm…など。実はこれらは全部、誤りです！

ちなみに今回のような大文字＋小文字のパターンは初めて見ました！
(Am を「アム」と読みそうです。笑)

営業時間を示していることはわかるので、大問題ではないですが、これを機に時間の正しい書き方をご紹介します。💁‍♀

✔︎ 時間が先にくる
✔︎ 日本語では「午前◯時」のように「午前」が先に入るが、英語では a.m. や p.m. が後に入る
✔︎ 時間と a.m. / p.m. の間にスペースが入る
✔︎ 小文字でピリオドが入る

📝 昼の12時は 12 noon と書きます。12:00 p.m. と表記されるのを見ることがありますが、正しくはこちら。

✖️ 13:00 p.m. ✅ 1:00 p.m.
✖️ 21 PM ✅ 9:00 p.m.
📝 24時間表記は使いません。
