February 29, 2024: Leap Year in 2040 （2040年の閏年）
February comes to an end today, and today, February 29, is a leap day. I was unaware of this until I knew it in Komaki-san's article. Since then, I have been trying to write something that is about the leap day or leap year and that is relevant to me. But I could find almost nothing about it. The only thing I found was that I was born in 1960, a leap year. But it makes no sense. I have no interest in the year.
Instead of looking back on the past, I have looked for what will happen to future leap years. And I found something interesting in 2040, the 4th leap year from this year. A national agency predicts what will occur in 2040 from the scientific perspective, including significant changes in seven areas. One of the ideas is to develop fully self-driving cars and buses. It looks very realistic because car manufacturers around the world are already struggling to make it happen. In some parts of Japan, it could happen much sooner.
Another idea is to produce food and cook a meal without using human labour. This is ideal, but 2040 seems too early to make it happen. In particular, it seems to me that 2040 is too early to cook a meal without using human labour. I wonder if it will be possible to cook as quickly as we do without human labour.
Among the seven ideas was the idea about the way we walk, which surprised me the most. Something seems to be developed by 2040, enabling us to walk and run as we do with our real legs. I do not know if it will really come true or not. Even if it comes true, it concerns me about the cost.

そこで、過去を振り返る代わりに、将来のうるう年がどうなるかを調べてみました。そして、今から４回目のうるう年にあたる2040年に興味深いものを見つけました。政府機関が、科学的視点から2040年に何が起こるかを予測しているのです。そのひとつが、自動運転車やバスの開発です。世界中の自動車メーカーがすでに実現に向け奮闘しているので、非常に現実味があります。日本の一部では、もっと早く実現しているかもしれません。
もうひとつのアイデアは、人の労力を使わずに食料を生産し、食事を料理するというものです。理想的ではありますが、2040年は実現には早すぎるような気がします。特に、人の労力を使わずに食事を作るには、早すぎだと思います。人手を使わずに、人並みに手早く料理ができるようになっているのでしょうか？
この7つのアイデアの中で、一番驚いたのは歩き方に関するものです。2040年までに、まるで本物の脚を使っているかのように歩いたり走ったりできるものが開発されるようです。でも、実現するかどうか疑問です。実現したとしても、コストが気になります。
