July 26, 2023: Fitness Club in My Town (1)（ボクの街のフィットネスクラブ（1））
I have often seen a lot of gyms or fitness clubs open around my flat. Most of them had to close a year after opening. Among them was a boxing gym, which I remember well. It tried to attract ordinary people and not professionals. So it had a look that was attractive to them. It had glass walls and a ring in a large space. As a result, it succeeded in attracting a lot of users in the beginning. But as time went by, it lost the power to increase the number of users. And it had to close a year after opening.
However, I see two gyms doing well in my town. The one is a nationally known one, Curves. It opened at the same place as the boxing gym. Since its opening, it has been very successful and attracted a lot of women. It has been at least a couple of years since it opened, but it is still busy.
The other is the one called 'SmartFit100'. I do not know the details because I have never been there and seen anything about it. But it is the type of gym that is called a 'convenient gym' in Japan. It has a different system from the traditional ones. It is open 24 hours a day, and the members can use it whenever they like. It also offers the service at a more reasonable price than traditional ones.
家の近所で多くのジムやフィットネスクラブが開店しては、すぐに閉店するのを見てきました。その大半は、開店してから1年足らずで閉店に追い込ました。なかでも、よく覚えているのがボクシングジムです。主に、一般の人を対象にしたジムで、対象者を取り込むためにおしゃれな外観にしていました。ガラス張りでリングがある広い空間でした。そのため、はじめは多くの利用者を獲得したのですが、時と共に、ｋ、会員は増えませんでした。そして、開店から1年で閉店しました。
でも、善戦しているクラブが２つあります。一つは、カーブスです。このフィットネスクラブは、上述のボクシングジムと同じの場所で営業開始しました。結果は、盛況です。多くの女性が利用しているようです。営業を開始して数年が経過していますが、いまでも、オープン時と変わらず盛況です。もう一つが、スマートフィット100というジムです。行ったこともなく、中を見たこともないので詳細は不明です。でも、いわゆるコンビニジムの一つです。年中無休で24時間、好きな時に利用できるそうです。また、料金も他のフィットネスクラブよりもお手軽のようです。そのおかげで、このジムの営業開始から数年が経過するいまでも、続いています。
