December 12, 2023: Kyoto, My Permanent Address （京都、本籍）

Kyoto. It is my home town. It is also very famous and popular with tourists. But it has attracted so many tourists that it is now suffering from over-tourism. I have not been there for the last five years. Sometimes, I am tempted to go there for sightseeing and to see my parents. But when I see the town very crowded on TV, I lose interest in going there. The city seems to remain popular for a while, but that will end one day.
Kyoto is very popular with my family, too. For my wife and daughter, it has a high brand. I was aware of Kyoto's value one day. It was when I asked them if I might transfer my permanent address from Kyoto to the town where I live now. I had imagined that no one would be against that idea because it is more convenient to have a permanent address in the city where I live now. But that was wrong. My wife and daughter were against the idea. They told me that they were proud to have their permanent address in Kyoto. So they have not accepted that transfer. As a result, I still have our permanent address in Kyoto. But it is time that I transferred it now. My daughter got married and Kyoto should be no longer of value to her. It is also more convenient for my wife and me to have it in my city.  Soon, I am going to ask them again if I may do that. This time, they should have no specific reason to oppose it.
I also have another reason. I was very disappointed with a town hall in Kyoto. A few months ago, I had got my family register from the hall. Then, I found a mistake in my current residence in the document. It had the wrong block number. So I asked the town hall to correct it. But they disregarded my request and I had to keep asking for it. Then, they were reluctant to contact the town hall where I live now to check the correct address. And they realized that when inputting, they had made mistakes, and they finally corrected my current residence. As a result, the error was corrected with lines. I was fed up with it.

京都。ボクのふるさとです。京都はまた、観光客にもとても有名で人気があります。でも、あまりに多くの観光客が訪れるため、今ではオーバーツーリズムに悩まされています。私はここ5年ほど京都に行っていません。時々、観光や両親に会うために京都に行きたくなりますが、テレビで京都が混雑しているのを見ると、行く気が失せてしまいます。しばらくはこの人気が続きそうですが、いつかは終わりを迎えるでしょう。京都はボクの家族にも人気です。妻と娘にとって、京都は高いブランド力があります。ある日、そのことを思い知らされました。本籍を京都から今住んでいる町に移せないかと、家族に相談したときのことでした。今住んでいる町に本籍があったほうが便利だから、誰も反対しないだろうと思っていたのですが、それは間違いでした。妻と娘が反対したのです。京都に本籍があることを誇りに思っているので、移転は受け入れられませんでした。そのため、いまだに、本籍は京都にあります。でも、そろそろ移転をしてもいい時です。娘も結婚したし、京都の価値はもうないはずです。夫婦にとっても、自分の町にあった方が便利です。 近いうちに、もう一度聞いてみようと思っています。今度は特に反対する理由はないはずです。
移転したい理由がもうひとつあります。京都の区役所にがっかりしたのです。数ヶ月前、戸籍謄本を取り寄せたところ、現住所が間違っていたのです。番地が間違っていました。そのため、役所に訂正を求めたのですが、無視され、何度も訂正を求めなければなりませんでした。そしたら、役所はボクが今住んでいる役所に連絡して、正しい住所を確認しました。そして、自分たちが入力ミスをしたことを認識し、謄本を修正しました。その結果、間違いは、訂正線で修正されています。うんざりです。
