March 31, 2023: Nippon Professional Baseball, Buffaloes, Tigers, New Manager （プロ野球、オリックス、阪神、新監督）
The Nippon Professional Baseball season has started. Like last year, I have two teams to support. One is the Orix Buffaloes in the Pacific League. I expect them to win their third league title in a row and their second in a row in the Japan Series. But I am concerned about their batting. It could be lower than the last year since Masataka Yoshida left for the Red Sox.
The other team I support is the Hanshin Tigers in the Central League. I expect them to perform much better than last year. From this season on, they have had a new manager, Akinobu Okada who has accepted the second appointment. In his first term, he did a great job and led the team to win the league title. I hope that he will do it again in his second term. To my knowledge, the team's biggest issue lies in their batting, as the Buffaloes do. It depends on two key batsmen, Teruaki Sato and Yusuke Oyama. I hope that they can relieve the coach.
However, it is what the manager says in his interviews with the baseball reporters that I am most looking forward to seeing. He is always complaining about the players. But he speaks in the Kansai dialect, so what he says sounds like jokes and makes me laugh a lot.
I know that hearing his complaints is bad news for the team as it happens only when the team loses a game. So it is better not to hear them in light of the team's victory. But I sometimes need them for my own fun.
プロ野球のリーグ戦が開幕しました。今年も、オリックスバファローズと阪神タイガースを応援します。オリックスには、リーグ3連覇と日本シリーズの連覇を期待しています。でも、チーム打力が気になります。吉田選手がレッドソックスに移籍したため、昨年より低下するかもしれません。
阪神には、昨年以上の成績を期待しています。今年から、監督が岡田さんに代わりました。岡田さんの監督就任は２度目です。1期目では、素晴らしい指導力で、リーグ優勝しました。2期目も期待しています。阪神の最大の課題は、オリックスと同様打力です。主力の佐藤と大山の出来次第です。どうか、監督を安心させてもらいたいものです。
そして、何よりも期待しているのは、岡田監督が周りの記者する話です。監督はいつも選手についてぼやいています。でも、関西弁で話すので、ぼやきも冗談に聞こえ、笑ってしまいます。
監督のボヤキは、チームが負けることを意味し、チームの勝利のためにはぼやきを聞かないほうがいいのはわかっています。でも、時々、自分の楽しみのために必要です。
