March 24, 2023: Mexico (2), Mexico City, Attractive City （メキシコ（２）、メキシコシティ、魅力的な街）
Since I had arranged an incentive trip to Mexico, I had not had a chance to do anything with Mexico for a long time. About ten years later, however, I got a chance to visit Mexico. It began when I met a Japanese woman who had lived and done business in Mexico for many years. As she happened to come to Tokyo, I had a meeting with her to see if I could find business in Mexico. That helped me understand Mexico well and have a great interest in the country. So I decided to fly to Mexico City to visit potential Mexican companies. And the woman and I visited these companies in two days, but unfortunately, we failed. As a result, I had to return to Japan empty-handed.
Apart from the business, I enjoyed the city very much. It was a short two-day visit, but I was so taken with it that I wanted to live there. The city is located very high at about two thousand meters. The good weather has made the city very livable. I visited the city in August. It was a very hot and humid season in Japan, but not at all in the city. It was warm and dry in the city, and I had no sweat. But it is located so high that I had difficulty breathing when I arrived there. That was the same one I experienced in Bogota, Colombia. But I got used to it in a few hours. The city also has another attraction, historical monuments such as a massive square and historical buildings in the centre of the city. I still miss the city.
メキシコ行のインセンティブトリップを手配してから長い間、メキシコとは縁がありませでした。ところが、約10年後に、メキシコに行く機会が訪れました。始まりは、長年メキシコに住んで、ビジネスをしている女性に出会ってからです。この方がたまたま東京に来られたので、お会いしてメキシコでのビジネスチャンスを探ることにしました。話を伺い、メキシコについて理解を深めると同時に大いに興味を感じました。そこで、首都のメキシコシティに飛んで、可能性のありそうなメキシコの会社を訪問することにしました。2日間かけて訪問したのですが、うまくいかず、成果なく帰国することになりました。
ビジネスは別として、この街を満喫しました。2日の短期滞在でしたが、住んでみたいと思うほど魅了されました。この街は、2000メートルを超の標高が高いところにあり、天候がよいため住みやすくできています。ボクが訪れたのは8月でした。日本では、熱く湿度の高い時期ですが、メキシコはまったく違いました。温暖で湿度がなく、汗もかきませんでした。ただし、標高が高いため息苦しさはありました。コロンビアのボゴタで同じような経験をしていたので、数時間で慣れました。この街には別の魅力があります。街の中心にある巨大な広場は歴史建造物などの歴史的モニュメントです。今でもこの街が忘れられません。
