April 19, 2024: Japanese Yen, AI Chatbots （日本円、AIチャットボット）
With the fall of the cherry blossoms, the Japanese stock markets have begun to fall. The Nikkei Index has fallen below the 40,000 mark. At the same time, the Japanese yen has continued to fall, hitting the 154 level against the US dollar. It was the lowest level in the last 34 years, and the yen seems to decline further. The government keeps saying it does not accept drastic changes in the currency and will take all measures to prevent such changes. But the 154 yen level is already good enough to say that the yen is moving excessively. However, it has taken no measures at all. Probably, it seemed to miss the timing to take action, though it should have taken any action when the yen hit around 145. And it no longer seems to have a way to correct the trend. And it should not rely on any help outside Japan to remedy the weakened yen.
In my opinion, around 130 yen is the appropriate rate against the US dollar. But with my intuition, it will at least hit 156 yen and could reach a 160 level. In the worst case, it could decline to the 200 yen level.
So, I have asked AI chatbots to tell me what would happen to my life in Japan if the Japanese yen hit a 200 yen level. I used MS Copilot, Google Gemini and Chat GPT. But none of them satisfied me at all. Their comments were quite similar and were so general that I did not bother to ask them. I expected them to see and read what was happening in my life and their intelligence to foresee what would happen to me, but they did not. In other words, they told me to see and think about my future with my eyes and head, make my own way and stop relying on them.
They have also disappointed me in another business. I often used them to solve questions in maths. But I stopped using them because they never gave me satisfactory answers. And this time, I tried them again to get some advice about my future life, but I was disappointed. So far, I do not know why these chatbots are highly appreciated. Or maybe I have used them wrong.
桜が散るのに合わせて、株式市場も下落しています。 日経平均は40,000円の大台を割り込みました。同時に日本円も下落を続け、対ドルで154円台に突入しました。この34年間で最低水準ですが、円安はさらに進みそうです。政府は、為替の急激な変動は受け入れられず、過度な変動を防ぐためにあらゆる措置を講じると言い続けています。でも、154円は、過度な変動と言っていいほどの水準です。にもかかわらず、まったく対策を講じません。恐らく、145円前後になった時点で何らかの対策を講じるべきだったのに、そのタイミングを逸してしまったのでしょう。そして、もはやこの傾向を是正する手立てがないのでしょう。また、海外には、円安の是正を助けてくれるものはいません。
ボクは、130円前後が適正レートと考えています。でも、直感では、少なくとも156円つけるだろうし、160円台に達する可能性もあると見ています。最悪の場合、200円台まで下落する可能性もあると踏んでいます。
そこで、円が200円台になったら日本にいるボクの生活はどうなるか、AIチャットボットに聞いて見ました。使ったのは、MS Copilot、Google Gemini、Chat GPTです。でも、どれも不満でした。どのコメントも似たり寄ったりで、あまりに平凡なので、わざわざ聞く必要がないほどでした。チャットボットには、今のボクの生活で実際に起こっていることを見て、読み取り、その知性で、将来何が起こるかを予見してくれることを期待したのですが、違いました。逆に、自分の将来は、自分の目と頭で見て考え、自分の道を切り開くよう言われ、チャットボットに頼るのはやめなさいと言われた気分です。
チャットボットには別件でも失望させられました。数学の問題を解くのによく使っていたのですが、満足のいく答えが返ってこなかったため、使うのをやめました。今回、将来の生活についてアドバイスをもらうために再び使ってみましたが、失望させられました。今のところ、なぜチャットボットが重宝がられているのかよくわかりません。あるいは、私の使い方が間違っていたのかもしれません。
