November 2, 2024: My Best Films （ボクの名作映画）
When I was in my 20s, I loved to see films and often went to the cinema to see them. In fact, I went every Monday for the first 2 years in my college life. After my school in the morning, I would go to the cinema.
I watched many kinds of films and in particular, loved those of De Niro and Al Pacino. I loved most of their films. But I have a number of them I have never forgotten, such as Deer Hunter, GodFather Part II, Once Upon a Time America, Godfather and Dog Day Afternoon. In particular, Dog Day Afternoon was very gripping. The films, which is hosted by Al Pacino and directed by Sidney Lumet, is the story of those, including Pacino, who attempts to rob a bank. But they fail and cannot find enough money in the bank. As a result, they hold out with hostages in the bank. In the end, they fail in the robbery, and everything goes against their expectations. Throughtout the film all, Pacino plays as one of the robbers who always upset, but has no way to correct it. His performance is so compelling that I have never forgotten it. It is one of my best films.
It has been about 45 years since I was gripped by it. He is already at 82, and I have expected him to enjoy his second half of the life. But I heard his bad news. He lost $50 million, which was stolen by his accountant. The case is similar to the one of a MLB player Shohei Ohttani being stolen $56 million by his translator. Pacino is already old , but still has to work hard to live. I hope that he manages to overcome the trouble.
20代の頃は映画を見るのが好きで、よく映画館に行きました。大学１、２年の頃は、毎週月曜日に映画館に行っていました。授業が午前中に終わると、必ず映画館に行っていました。
いろいろな映画を見ましたが、特にロバート・デ・ニーロとアル・パチーノの映画が好きでした。中でも、ディア・ハンター』、『ゴッドファーザー PART II』、『ワンス・アポン・ア・タイム・アメリカ』、『ゴッドファーザー』、『狼たちの午後』などは忘れられません。特に『狼たちの午後』は手に汗握る作品でした。アル・パチーノが主演で、シドニー・ルメットが監督のこの映画は、パチーノらの銀行強盗の話です。銀行に十分な現金がなかったため、人質を取って籠城するのです。でも強盗は失敗に終わり、すべてが思い通りにいかないという話です。映画全体を通して、パチーノはずっと動揺し、為す術がない強盗団の一人を演じています。この彼の演技がボクを引き付け、いまでも忘れられません。ボクの名作映画のひとつです。
この作品に魅了されて、45年ほどが経ちます。パチーノはすでに82歳で、人生の後半を謳歌していると思っていました。でも、彼の悲惨なニュースを知りました。会計士に5000万ドルを盗まれたのです。MLBの大谷翔平選手が5,600万ドルを通訳に盗まれた事件に似ています。パチーノはすでに高齢ですが、それでも生きていかねばなりません。なんとかこのトラブルを乗り越えてほしいものです。
