賞味期限がいちばん長いアメリカワイン ?!
… 食べもの、飲みものについていえば食べ頃、飲み頃ということになるが、対象が嗜好品であるだけに、人によってこの頃合いは微妙に、また大きく異なることがある。バナナを例にとれば、まだ青みが残り堅くてちょっとした酸味と生っぽい口当たりが好きだという人がいれば、いやバナナはよく熟して真黄色の皮に茶色の斑点がポツポツ現れるようにならなければおいしくないという人もいる。
ワインはアルコールや高い酸性度などの影響で腐らないといわれていますが、酸化などによる劣化は存在します。
ものによりピンキリですが、赤ワインでは5〜30年くらいに飲むべきとされるのが一般的かもしれません。
ロバート パーカー ワイン アドヴォケイトの評価には「Drink Date」というものがあるため、それがいちばん長いアメリカワインを調べてみました。
ワインは満点のものを採用しました。
その結果驚くべきことに、賞味期限 (?!) が「2080年」のワインが存在することがわかりました
そのワインは以下の2つです。

1) 2014 Hundred Acre Vineyard • Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith (ハンドレッド エーカー)

Maturity: Early
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith opens with compelling crème de cassis, wild blueberries, anise, chocolate mint and black earth scents plus suggestions of candied violets, cinnamon stick, tar, cigar box and smoked meats. Full-bodied, rich, super firm and built like a brick house, the palate offers layer upon layer of very tightly wound, subtly nuanced flavors leading to a very long, very perfumed and minerally finish. If any Hundred Acre wine can live for 100 years, this is certainly a contender. (December 2018)
2) 2016 Harlan Estate (ハーラン エステート)

Maturity: Young
The deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Harlan Estate comes charging out of the glass, brandishing bold, opulent blackberry pie, warm cassis and blueberry preserves notes with hints of cigar box, Indian spices, crushed rocks and forest floor plus fragrant accents of lavender and black tea. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is built like a brick house, with a solid line of super ripe, grainy tannins and oodles of freshness supporting the layer upon layer of savory and earth-inspired notions, finishing on a lingering mineral note. Impressively structured, incredibly nuanced and possessing all this latent tension, this brazen beauty is set to live for a good 60 years and possibly more! (September 2019)

上記2つのワインの評価者は、Lisa Perrotti-Brown MWでした。
最近独立して新しい評価サイト「The Wine Independent」を立ち上げると公表したことで業界を賑わせた方です。
2080年ということは、おおよそ60年も先のこと。想像もつきません。
ナパでワイン造りの新時代がはじまったのがまさにおおよそ60年前ですし…。
決して飲み頃が長いことがいいわけではないと思いますが、いろいろなワインの飲み頃をみていておもしろく感じました。
たとえば、世界最高額のロマネ コンティについては、満点を取得した2015、2016および2019年ヴィンテージで各々、2028-2050、2026-2075および2033-2070年がDrink Dateでした。
それにしてもどうやって年数を予想しているのか…? まったくわかりません。
飲み頃に達していないのに、すでに満点というのも…?? はてなマークでいっぱいです (笑)。
“too” youngというわけではなく、can drink now, but has potential for ageingということで満点なのかと想像しましたがいかがでしょうか。
ワインは人間とよく似ているとつくづく思うことがある。つまりあのビン詰めの中身が生きものなのである。コルクをあけてみるまでどんな味かわからないし、よしんば、これならと自信をもってあけてみたところで、ビンに詰められたときの状態と、その後の、取り扱い方の適不適で、どんなのが現われ出てくるのやら、まあ、全くわけのわからない代物なのである。…
