「英会話」を楽しみたい

世界中の人が様々な理由で英語を学んでいます。もはや理由なんてない、「やりたいからやっている」という方も少なくないかもしれません。

さて自分自身は「英会話を楽しみたい」というのが理由の一つです。そこで英会話をもっと楽しむために、とあるYouTubeチャンネルを活用しています。

この「Easy English」というYouTubeチャンネルでは、ストリートインタビュー動画をアップしています。

イギリス人のインタビュワーがブライトン（Brighton）というイングランド南東部の都市の人々に対し、毎回ひとつの質問をテーマに会話を繰り広げる内容となっています。様々なイギリス訛りを聴くことができるのも魅力です。

こちらの動画である男性が、人々の話す速さに関して自分の考察を述べているシーンがあり、それがとても興味深いものでした（動画 8:22〜）

都市部に住んでいる人は話すのが速く、田舎に住んでいる人はゆっくりになる傾向がある というもの。

時間に対する感覚や捉え方はもちろん人それぞれですが、確かに環境や雰囲気が話し方にも少し影響を与えているような気もします。

英会話の流れとリズム

「会話」というものは大きく分けて、相手の話を聞く、反応する、そして自分の思いや意見を相手に伝える（または質問する）という３つのパートに分解できます。

台本のないリアルな英会話には、会話の組み立て方や会話をスムーズに続けるためのフレーズなど、会話を楽しむ秘訣が多くあり、その追求に終わりはなさそうです。

Learning English to Enjoy an English Conversation

Now many people learn English for many different reasons. Some people might not have any particular reason and just do it because they like it. For me, I learn English because I would like to enjoy talking with people in English. I utilise one YouTube channel as a means to get more insight about British people’s conversation.

What do they do on this channel? It is about a British host who interviews people in the street in Brighton. They talk about one topic and the topic is different in each video. You can absorb many different British accents by watching their videos.

In this episode, one man describes his thoughts on how fast or slow people speak, which is interesting.

It's about how people living in a city speak faster whereas people living in the countryside speak slower. People have a different perception of time, but I think a place or atmosphere influences how you speak.

The Structure of English Conversation

A conversation is made up of roughly three parts:  listening, responding and telling your thoughts or opinion. (or making a question.) With unscripted conversation, you will see the structure of the English conversation and some phrases that help you enjoy talking with people more. I’m curious to know if there are any other secret tips to make the conversation flow well.
