A Japanese Shaper In Mona Vale

I met Hiro, one of the guys who joined the drinking at Collaroy yesterday. He is a shaper of Haydenshapes at Mona Vale, which is one of the most famous, and award-winning surfboard brand in the world. Their team riders are the greatest, such as Craig Anderson, and Dion Agius.

As I talked with him, I couldn't help respecting him. He is the only Japanese in the factory. He has great craftsmanship.

And of course, I couldn't help wanting to ask him to shape a new surfboard for me. Because I've brought only one surfboard from Japan. That's a great board, but I want a board that is shaped by a shaper who knows local waves well.

He told me if I ordered a new board to him directly, he can make the waiting time shorter. Usually, it will take more than 3 months or moreover.

I've just started thinking about it seriously, but my wife would be a higher hurdle for me...
