【Day 496】

I was still immersed in the afterglow of the Olympic surfing games this morning.

When I saw Twitter, I realized that people in Japan got excited by the results Kanoa and Amuro achieved. They even showed up on the TV show that usually never picked up surfing topics.

I also saw Owen Wright, the first bronze medalist of the Olympic surfing game ever showed up on the TV show in Australia as well.

He was treated like a hero. Yes, he was absolutely a hero. 

He got a severe head injury when he surfed at Pipeline in 2015. After that, he struggled to recover completely for a long time. I couldn’t imagine how much effort he paid to do that because he couldn’t just surf but also even walk at that time. 

And I knew that his family lives in Byron Bay for the first time. I envied them a bit because Byron Bay is a sort of dream place to live for me.

Anyway, the lockdown in Sydney seems to extend another 4 weeks, I wonder when I can go surfing next...
