When I graduated from university I joined a foreign company doing marketing for cosmetics. I grew up in an environment with a strong female presence(I have 2 sisters) and I felt lucky to be able to contribute to products that made women happy. I chose marketing because I wanted to be able to convey a message that I felt was positive and impactful, which is that women can live as they wish. While I didn't have overseas trips, there were French
colleagues from the headquarters in France at the company. Even as a fresh graduate they throw you into the frying pan right away so it was largely on-the-job training where you learn it hands-on. While I was working at the cosmetics company I'd started belly dancing from my university days so I was also teaching dancing courses on the side and I would also perform at shows. It became a little hard to balance my job and also my dancing. When I turned 30 I was hospitalised for exhaustion. That marked a turning point in my life. After I was discharged I changed my employment arrangement from a full-time employee to a 3 day work week part-time employee and I focused on belly dancing for a year. My plan was to go back to being a full-time employee after a year. However a year passed and I didn't want to return to full-time employment. I decided to quit and focus on belly dancing instead.

After that I left for Singapore and started my belly dancing business. In 2016 I started my own company and applied for an employment pass myself. It's now been 4 years since I've been doing this in Singapore.
