"Citizens of the earth."　世界市民〜戦争ほど悲惨なものはない、平和ほど尊いものはない〜　荒井千丶利

Do you know about this? On August 6, 1945, the first atomic bomb in human history was dropped on Hiroshima, instantly killing more than 100,000 people. After witnessing the power of this atomic bomb, humanity should have realized that "nothing is more cruel and tragic than war" and "nuclear weapons must never be used."

However, there are currently about 12,700 nuclear weapons in the world (as of January 2022). Furthermore, as the war between Russia and Ukraine continues, verbal confrontations regarding the use of nuclear weapons escalate, making the risk of using nuclear weapons higher than ever.

Now is the time for humanity to unite and say, "We must not repeat the mistake made in Hiroshima" and start taking actions to build peace. I created my artwork with such thoughts in mind.

皆さんはご存知でしょうか。
1945年8月6日、人類史上初めて広島に原子爆弾が投下され、一瞬にして、十数万人が亡くなったことを。
この原子爆弾の威力を目の当たりにした人類は、「戦争ほど残酷で悲惨なものはない」「核兵器は絶対に使用してはならない」と認識したはずです。
しかし、この恐ろしい核兵器は、現在、世界に約1万2700発あります(2022年1月時点)。さらにロシアとウクライナとの戦争が長期化する中で、核兵器の使用を巡って言葉による牽制がエスカレートしており、核兵器を使用するリスクは今、最も高まっているのです。
今こそ、人類は「広島で起こった過ちを繰り返してはならない」と団結し、平和を構築するための行動を始めるべきです。
私は、そんな思いを込めて作品を制作しました。

【Profile】
Ryuichi Arai (Calligraphy name: Arai Century) was born in 1972 and holds a Master's degree in Education. After working as an elementary school teacher for 18 years, he served as a guidance principal at the Board of Education for five years. He is now in a management position at an elementary school. In 2012, when the author was an elementary school teacher, 100 children he was in charge of learned about the horrors of war and the preciousness of peace during their school trip to Hiroshima. They held a peace assembly called "PEACE FORUM" to convey their message to the local community. This initiative won the top prize at the 63rd Yomiuri Education Award, the highest education award in Japan. Through this project, he vowed with the 100 students to engage in peace activities for the rest of his life to build a world without war, which became the starting point of his peace activism. In 2018, he founded an organization called SUNPEACE and started a project to convey the history of the air raid that occurred in Sanda City. Since 2019, he has been releasing YouTube videos advocating for peace every July 19th, the day the Sanda air raid occurred. From 2020, as a calligrapher named Arai Century, he has been sharing hopeful calligraphy works on platforms like Instagram.

【プロフィール】
荒井隆一（書家名：荒井千丶利）1972年生まれ、教育学修士。
18年間小学校教員を務めた後、5年間教育委員会の指導主事を経て、現在は小学校の管理職に就いている。
2012年に作者が小学校教員時代、担当した児童100名が広島の修学旅行で戦争の悲惨さと平和の尊さを学び、地域の人々に伝える平和集会「PEACE FORUM」を開催した。
この取組は日本で最高峰とされる教育賞である第63回読売教育賞 最優秀賞を受賞。
この取組で、100名の児童と共に「生涯、戦争がない世界の構築のために平和活動をする」と誓ったことが作者の平和活動の原点になった。
2018年には、SUNPEACEという団体を立ち上げ、三田市で発生した空襲の歴史を伝える取り組みを開始した。2019年からは毎年7月19日、三田空襲が起こった日に、平和を訴えるYouTube動画を配信している。
2020年からは書家の荒井千丶利として、Instagramなどで希望に満ちた書を発信している。
