【Native English Diary】4日目～フロリダ州にある日本庭園にはワニがいる？？😲🐊

アメリカにも庭園があるのってご存知ですか？先月フロリダ州で庭園行ってきたので、今日は英語でその話したいと思います！
この日記は、ネイティブ英語を読みながら勉強したい方や、在日外国人の日常に興味のある方のために書いています。

Day 4
Near my hometown in Florida, U.S.A., there's a Japanese garden called Morikami Gardens.
In addition to the gardens, there's a café, art gallery, theater, and even a teahouse (茶屋).
It's a center to experience Japanese art, culture and food, and is very popular among locals and tourists.
When I was growing up, I often went to Morikami Gardens for events. It also makes a nice date spot 😉

It makes a nice date spot = デートスポットにいいです。

When I went to Morikami Gardens when I was younger, I had never been to Japan and I didn't know much about Japanese culture.
This time, I went to Morikami Gardens for the first time after living in Japan, and of course I brought my Japanese boyfriend Kazuki for the first time. I felt like I could see the gardens in a whole new light! (see in a whole new light = 新しい目で見る)
I realized that Morikami Gardens is very authentic, but there's a lot of American and Floridian influences.
You may know that the nature of Florida is very unique.
Florida's nature comes from the Everglades, a national park consisting mostly of swamps and wetlands. (swamp = 沼)
Because of this, the nature is unlike any other in the world. (unlike any other = 似てるものがない)
In Morikami Gardens, Japanese style is mixed with Florida nature.
Florida trees and plants are arranged in the Japanese garden way, and you can see Florida birds and turtles.
But wait, what's this? There's a warning sign in the gardens. It is telling visitors to be careful of alligators.
When me and my boyfriend saw this sign, we were laughing.
Wouldn't it be interesting to see an alligator in a Japanese garden?
We thought it was impossible.
But then….
There he is!!
It's definitely a sight you can't see in Japan.
At Morikami Gardens, they also display a collection of beautiful bonsai.
But, the bonsai here are also very unique.
They are bonsai made from Florida trees, such as this bonsai made from a tree called the dwarf schefflera.
At the café, you can also feel the American influence.
For example, American people love teriyaki, so almost every menu item included teriyaki!!
You can also buy a bottle of Ramune, which is considered very fun and interesting to Americans.
Of course, I recommend Morikami Gardens to my American friends because it is a rare opportunity to experience Japan in the USA.
However, I also recommend it to Japanese people who visit Florida because you can experience a unique mix of American and Japanese culture.
