#3 "SOUDA"

僕らが今、少しずつ機材を揃えながら自分達の音を録音し作品を作り続け発表していることは先日書いた。
新曲のプロトタイプを映像と共に公開したり、新規の楽曲のリリース、ライブパフォーマンス、カバー曲など、色々な形で作品を作って発表している。
この”SOUDA”という曲は「A Voice」というシリーズとして発表したものだ。
これは、これまでの僕らのスタイルとは少し違う。

この演奏は全て即興演奏である。
全く何の決め事も打ち合わせもなく、スタジオで三人が音を鳴らし、その音にRinkoが自分の詩を即興でメロディをつけながら歌い、ピアノも重ねた。

こうした即興演奏は僕らにとっては特別なものではなく、スタジオに入るたびにいつも自然にやっていたことだ。それを形にして発表してみようと思った。
その時、ウクライナ侵攻が起きていた。

世界で起こることは全て、どんな人間にも影響を与える。
音が共鳴してどんどん巨大な響きになるように。
一つの波紋はどんどん広がりさまざまな形の波になる。
出来事に対して、人々はそれぞれの個性によって反応し反響する。
アーティストは、そのアーティストの存在価値と自身の尊厳を賭けて世界の出来事に反応し表現をする。自分の声、自分の音、自分の絵を響かせる。
自分の響きを持たないアーティストはクズだ。世界の振動に対して響くことができないアーティストはクズだ。いや、そもそもアーティストではない。

この音がTHE MOLICEがその時の世界の響きに対して鳴らした音である。
それを表現するのに最も適していたのが即興演奏だった。
自分の中の感情や思いを言葉ではなく音にする。その音をメンバーの音にぶつけて、また別の響きにする。そうして生まれるカオスの形が、その時その瞬間のTHE MOLICEの表現である。

動画の中で使われている絵は全てRinkoによるものだ。歌われている詩はRinkoの世界観でもあり、哲学でもあるのだと思っている。それを是非動画で味わってもらいたい。

僕らは今、表現の幅を拡張しようとしている。
コロナという激動は、僕らにこうした拡張の機会を与えている。
これを奇貨として僕らはさらに新しい表現を続けていきたい。
いや、そうでなくてはいけないのだ。

I wrote the other day about how we have been recording and creating our own sound and presenting our work while gradually acquiring the necessary equipment.
We have been creating and releasing prototypes of new songs with videos, releasing new songs, live performances, cover songs, and so on. This song "SOUDA" is part of a series called "A Voice. This is a little different from our previous style.

This performance is entirely improvised. The three of us made sounds in the studio, and Rinko sang her own poem with an improvised melody and piano. This kind of improvisation was not something special for us; it was something we always did naturally whenever we entered the studio. We decided to give it form and present it. At that time, the Russian invasion of Ukraine was taking place.

Everything that happens in the world affects any human being. Just as sound resonates and becomes more and more enormous. A single ripple spreads and becomes a wave of many different forms. People react and reverberate to events according to their own individuality.

An artist reacts to and expresses the events of the world, risking their own value of existence and their own dignity. The artist echoes their own voice, their own sound, their own painting. An artist who does not have their own resonance is a bum. An artist who cannot resonate against the vibrations of the world is a bum. No, it is not an artist in the first place.

This sound is the sound that THE MOLICE made in response to the vibration of the world at that time. The best way to express this was through improvisation. We made sounds rather than words to express our feelings and thoughts. Then, I would strike that sound against the sound of the members and make it sound different again. The form of chaos created in this way is the expression of THE MOLICE at that moment.

We are now trying to expand our range of expression, and the upheaval of Covid is giving us the opportunity to do so. We would like to use this as an opportunity to continue to create new forms of expression. No, we have to do so.
