Do social welfare programs help reduce inequality in society?

It is an undeniable fact that social welfare programs are a contributing factor in the betterment of the quality of our lives. Personally, I stand by my belief that social welfare programs redress social inequality.

The first reason to support my stance is that scholarships can provide numerous people with ample chances to receive education. In recent society, a sharp increase in commercial prices stemming from Ukraine war has exacerbated economic recession, leading to circumstances under which many people are incapable of entering university despite their academic achievement. With the system of scholarships, it is possible that this financial contribution has the potential to rectify   educational inequity.

Additionally, barely a day goes by in modern days without news of serious demographic issues like growing proportion of elderly people in Japan. A greying generation has a tendency to bear the brunt of the rapid change of technology and public services, which potentially prevents elderly people from living with youngsters harmoniously. Fortunately, sufficient support of care insurance systems in Japan enables elderly people to live sustainably in current society. Furthermore, the emergence of technological instructions greatly helps old people keep track of seismic shift in social trends.

The final justification for corroborating my opinion is that generous support of parenting plays pivotal roles in solving sexual inequality. The obsolete belief that women should dedicate themselves to child-rearing has been entrenched in Japanese society. Such a conservative idea aggravates the issue of declining birthrate because the 21st century has witnessed a dramatic increase in the number of women who are willing to advance their careers. The introduction of childcare systems, however, fosters the environment in which men are encouraged to involve in rearing children by implementing paternity leave. This childcare support improves unbalanced situation between men and women in terms of the role in domestic work.

In conclusion, given the fact that social welfare systems can play leading roles in solving wide variety of social problems like  educational inequality, growing proportion of elderly people and sexual inequality, I firmly support my stance that social welfare systems can redress inequity.
