ライティング勉強法

今日はライティング勉強法について書いていきたいと思います。

結論から言うと普段自分がライティング力を伸ばす為にやっていることは写経です。

主に使用している題材は英検1級ライティング模範解答、The Economistの記事、ケンブリッジ英検のライティングや長文です。

しかし写経をすると言っても漠然と英文を書き写すだけでは効果は得られにくいので書き写すことに加えて普段以下の3つのことをやるようにしています。

①使ってみたいコロケーションや表現にマーキングする
②辞書で調べて他の例文も参照にする
③自分で使えるようになる為に自作英文を作ってストックを貯めておく。

具体的な方法として今回は2023年度第3回英検1級ライティングの模範解答を例に出してやってみます。

Humankind should rely on science to solve its problems, particularly climate change, global food shortages and world-ending events. These are potentially catastrophic issues threatening humanity's future that can only be addressed by putting our collective strength into scientific research.

この一文をまず書き写した後に気になる表現を探してみましょう。

今回はput our collective strength intoという表現を例に出してみましょうか。

辞書でまず調べて色んな例文に触れるようにします。（今回はstrengthという単語）

そうするとcombined strengthやgauge the strength、draw our strength fromなどstrengthに関するコロケーションや表現を更に派生して覚えることが出来ます。

それらをノートにメモした後、先程の表現を使って自分で何パターンか自作英文を作ります。

例えば

Climate change is an international problem that countries across the globe must put their collective strength into collaboration with United Nations.

Putting our collective strength into further investigation enables us to shed light on this hitherto unknown mysteries.

The complexities of these sensitive matters remind us of the importance of putting our collective strength into understanding their origins.

など様々なセンテンスパターンを用いて英作していきます。

上記のようにストックを貯めておいてライティングの練習の際に意識的に使う練習をしておくとスキルアップにも繋がっていくと思います。
