Abstract
The women’s acceptance rate into Japanese medical schools was higher than men in 2021, it may be the first time ever.
In the 2020 fiscal year, about 67% of universities had lower acceptance rates for women than men, but in 2021, that number fell to 44%. These numbers increased after a 2018 government investigation found that at least nine medical schools in Japan had manipulated entrance exam results to exclude women.
One University that manipulated the results wanted to reduce the number of women who were accepted because it thought they would eventually stop practicing medicine to have children.

What are your thoughts on the rising acceptance rate of women into Japanese medical schools?

I think that’s changing is great signs for making a gender equality society. However, there are lots of things that we have to modify.
As you can see in the text, there is still prejudice that women are inferior to men because they quit their job due to pregnancy or raising babies in Japan. I can’t understand why such ridiculous discrimination are allowed even now.
I think a gender equality society won’t threaten men’s social status, or rather it helps to release men from social pressure which is like men should feed women and so on.
Japan was 120th in 156 countries at the Global Gender Gap Report 2021. I really think we should commit to this situation for us and our later generations.
