表参道にお店を構えている古着屋「Santa Monica」
@santamonica_omotesandou が今月の25日で44年間という長い歴史に幕を閉じるという。あまりにも長い年月過ぎて正直ピンときていない。そんな古着屋が他に存在するのか。？
いつも当たり前にそこにあり、いつでも立ち寄れるはずのお気に入りのお店が無くなるのは、古着屋に限らず誰しもが辛い。多種多様な人間がひしめき合うその街に、ひっそりと佇むSanta Monicaは、僕にとって古着屋のオアシスだった。
いつ来てもそこにはミリタリー、ワーク、スーベニア、その他の王道ヴィンテージが鎮座し、グッドルッキングなレギュラー古着が多数並んでいた。また、入り口からレジ前に陳列されたビンズやワッペン、ベルトや靴下といった小物類、その他の粗悪なアメリカ製の物（良い意味で）といったアイテムが、多くの古着好きを魅了し、ファンの心を掴んでいた。もちろん紛れもなく、僕もその中の1人だ。
たまにふらっと寄ったつもりが、昔からいらっしゃる渋い店長さんやスタッフさんに声を掛けられたもんなら、思わず試着をせずには帰れない。商品はもちろんだが、接客も兎に角ツボを付いてくるのが厄介だった。笑
そんな安心感と居心地の良さが混同するサンタモニカは、今後場所や形は変われど、僕にとってこれからも東京で一番大好きなお店の一つだ。
帰り際に閉店の理由が、入居されている建物の老朽化で立ち退きになった事を知り、ある意味安堵感に包まれた本日。今後の展開が楽しみでならない。

Santa Monica, a vintage clothing store with a store in Omotesando
@santamonica_omotesandou will close the curtain on its long history of 44 years on the 25th of this month. It's been so long that it honestly doesn't ring a bell. Is there any other vintage clothing store like it?
It is hard for everyone, not just vintage clothing stores, to lose a favorite store that you always take for granted and can stop by anytime. For me, Santa Monica, standing quietly in a town crowded with all kinds of people, was an oasis of secondhand clothing stores.
Every time I came there, I always found military, work, souvenir, and other high street vintages, as well as many good-looking regular used clothes. In addition, the bins, patches, belts, socks, and other knick-knacks displayed from the entrance to the cash registers, as well as other shoddy American-made items (in a good way), attracted many vintage clothing lovers and fans. Of course, undeniably, I was one of them.
I would drop by on a whim, but when I was approached by the store manager and staff, who had been there for a long time, I couldn't leave without trying on a few items. The products, of course, but the customer service also hit all the right spots, which was a bit of a nuisance. LOL!
Santa Monica, with its mixture of comfort and security, will always be one of my favorite stores in Tokyo, regardless of its future location or form.
On my way home today, I was relieved to learn that the reason for the closure was that the building in which the restaurant is located had become decrepit. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
