This analysis examines the connections among 10 selected assets’ followers, holders, and cryptocurrency prices. Specifically, I was interested in whether follower and holder numbers have an effect on a token's price or vice versa.

Highlights

l  In general, governance tokens show stronger growth among holders than meme coins, since their actual user benefit is greater.

l  Meme coins show a higher average follower growth on Twitter — this could perhaps be due to their higher ‘entertainment value’.

The Datasets
データセット

In this analysis, I examined the top 5 meme coins (DOGE, SHIB, FLOKI, BABYDOGE, ELON) and top 5 NFT governance tokens (APE, SAND, IMX, MANA, AXS) as of mid-February according to Coingecko. I chose these coins because they have a large trading volume and the data is therefore relatively unaffected by whales.

I used data from multiple sources. Most of the token holder data and Twitter follower data were provided by the nice people at Coinbrain. Additional token holder data and Twitter follower data come from Etherscan and Socialblade.
