【SS】大いなる兵士

のどかな平和そのものの田園風景。
風そよぎ、木漏れ日は揺れ、鳥が鳴く。

緑の海を渡るように草原を渡る、少女。
草原の真ん中で、少女は兵士を見つけた。

とんでもなく大きな兵士だった。
少女の腰がやっと兵士の小指の太さ。

兵士は草の上に仰向けに倒れていた。
巨大な機関銃をしっかり抱えている。

少女は唇を少し開いて、夢見る表情。

片耳に足を掛け、少女は兵士の顔に登る。
剃り残しの髭があるから登りやすい。

上唇を踏みながら鼻の穴を覗いてみる。
穴は暗く、鉄柵状の鼻毛が伸びている。

顎の端に立つと断崖にいるような気分。
遠くに教会の屋根の十字架が見えた。

鎖骨近くの皮膚に触れてみたら温かい。

耳を当ててみると鼓動が聞こえた。
木の幹の樹液の流れる音に似ていた。

（この人、生きているんだ！）

世間知らずな少女は頬を赤らめる。
その途端、兵士の胸から転げ落ちた。

どこかに穴でも空いていたのだろう。

落ちたところは、とても不思議な場所。
まるで戦車の操縦室のように見えた。

操縦席もあった。すぐに少女は腰掛ける。

奇妙な形のハンドルとレバーがある。

わけのわからないボタンが並んでいる。
ひとつのボタンを少女は押してみる。

正面の窓が上に開く。青空が見えた。

レバーを引いてみると、衝撃があった。

見下ろす風景。見覚えのある家々。
大きな靴先が見える。兵士の靴だ。

大いなる兵士が立ち上がったのだ。

ハンドルをまわすと、風景がまわる。
窓から見える風景は兵士の視界なのだ。

少女は適当にボタンを押してみる。
機関銃が持ち上がり、火を噴いた。

教会の屋根が十字架ごと吹っ飛んだ。

さらに少女は別のボタンを押してみる。
なにかが空を飛んでゆく。爆発する。

山が消えた。手榴弾かもしれない。

大いなる兵士の中で少女はもう夢中。
片っ端から次々とボタンを押してゆく。

もう誰も少女を止められない。
　

Great Soldier

Countryside scenery of idyll peace itself.
The wind blew, the sunbeams trembled, the birds sang.

A girl crossing the grassland over the green sea.
In the middle of the meadow, the girl found a soldier.
