赤ちゃんカワウソ（インスタ翻訳シリーズ vol.5）

英語学習として、インスタの投稿の訳してみる、というチャレンジをしています。

以前はブログを訳していましたが、

①どれを訳すのかチョイスするのに時間がかかる
②今の英語力では、読み切るまでに時間がかかりすぎてしまう。

という課題があり、気軽にできていませんでした。

インスタ投稿を訳すのであれば、これら２つとも解決できそうだなと思い、始めてみました。
コツコツつづけて、100記事くらいまでいけたらいいかな、と考えています。

今回のお題

Spring is here, and although we may not see them, we know that somewhere—probably in warm dens deep in thickets or tree roots near the Merced River—baby river otters are coming into the world. Although they're born blind and weighing about as much as a smartphone, they quickly get down to the hard work of growing up! Just after reaching one month, their eyes open, and it's not long before they're venturing outside their den—sometimes catching rides on their mother as she teaches them to swim and hunt. When females allow the males back into the picture at about six weeks of age, otter dads prove both helpful and tolerant of their progeny's mischief. 訳してみた

春が来た。
彼らはを見つけることはできないのだけど、気配を感じるのです。
Merced川付近の、茂みのくぼみや、木の根に、赤ちゃんカワウソがいるのを。
まだ生まれたてで、目も見えていないし、重さだってスマホくらい。でも１ヶ月もすれば、目も見えて、あちこち冒険し始めるし、お母さんに背負われながら、泳ぎや狩りを覚えます。
生後６週間たったころから、お父さんは家に帰るお許しがでます。お父さんは子どもたちにいたずらされてもおおらかに見守るのです。
