TANE NO CHIKARA ~ Where Eco-Building and Permaculture Form the Foundation of the Future Lifestyle ~

-Awaji Island
November has just begun on the island of Awaji in Hyogo Prefecture,
Japan. The tree leaves are beginning to turn, birds are searching for a warmer home, wild boars are digging holes to prepare food for their survival through the cold winter, and farmers are preparing the soil for the final harvest of the year.Awaji is an island of agriculture and sea, and that is why I view it as the most important place for regeneration, a place to connect with the coming generations and reflect on our treatment of the planet.
Luckily for me, Awaji is home to several new companies which are already involved in changing the environment. Among them include Tane no Chikara, 4 young and enthusiastic Japanese (Kaneko Daisuke, Kaneto Saki, Tomita Kyosuke, Okuda Yuumi) who are currently supported by Pasona Group, a well-known Japanese Human Resources company which is now focused on revitalizing rural areas in Japan.

-Tane No Chikara
Tane No Chikara is family to me, pioneers of a new Japanese lifestyle, and I've had the honor of collaborating with them over the past 10 months to learn a lot about permaculture and Eco-buildings.
Their dream is to influence Japanese society into something more sustainable, an approach which takes the form of self-sustainable building for tourists, where naturally grown vegetables and fruits served in the facility.Tane no Chikara is now situated in a rural area of northern Awaji Island, and will eventually include 11 “Earthbag houses” with several camping sites. The rest of the space, a large field area, will be used as a fully functional ecosystem using a Permaculture philosophy, ponds to nourish diverse animals and plants, gardens which produce food and fields to harvest rice and wheat to make this magical resort fully self-sustainable.The idea started from a dream built upon years of study and analysis of the Island Economy and Japanese Agriculture problems.

-Problems and Solution. Earthbag House
Awaji Island's primary problem is its shrinking population in the last 50 years, and the consequent lack of adequate infrastructure to host more tourists and boost the local economy. To combat this, Kaneko and his team have thought deeply about solutions to host people while at the same time respecting the nature and environment of Awaji. After a few months of research, they settled on the solution of building Earthbag houses, a structure built from an array of bags filled with a mixture of soil, water , lime and gravel.used for recent techniques in passive housing, and electricity-free buildings which can manage heat, airflow and cooling by simply creating an intuitively designed house according to the natural surroundings (sun, rain, wind and natural disasters).

-Natural Farming. Permaculture
The Secondary Problem Relates To Japanese Agriculture'S Reliance On Import Goods. As A Result, Japan Suffers From High Prices And Low Control Over Product Quality And Safety.Tane No Chikara Focuses On The Permaculture Approach, Serving Natural Produce While Considering The Environment. Permaculture Is An agricultural approach born in Australia which is configured the words 'Permanent' and 'Agriculture.' Literally, it aims to make agriculture sustainable and durable in order to keep the environment and the ecosystem balanced with the needs of human society.

-What's Next
In a society like the Japanese one, usually, it is very hard to bring new ideas and stick to those to the point of creating a new company like Tane no Chikara. Thanks to Pasona Group this dream came true and now it's time to build and Since the beginning of 2018, we already build 2 Earthbag houses and in a few days, we will start the third one, at the same time we are also farming to prepare the winter harvest. As you can understand the company is not creating any profit yet and this is becoming a problem to find investors for the next steps on top of that all the members' energies are absorbed by the buildings and there is not so much time to plan the future.mirroring nowadays Japanese society where the need of people to carry out all the tasks and project is high, but there aren 't enough helpers which makes companies like Tane no Chikara struggles to do everything at the same time.

-Sharing is caring. Schools and Workshops
Their spirit, though, is never changing that is why they found another solution to this problem by helping the Japanese society, now Tane no Chikara is also sharing its experience and knowledge with all Kansai through workshops with kids and adults, lectures with University and college Students and many more activities.During a conversation with all the members, we agreed on the fact that a lot of society's problems are caused because of the disregard of many adults. Many of us never had the chance to live in nature or even get out of our concrete jungles. The only way to help the society seems then to aim at education and the young generations.By sharing knowledge and responsibility toward the environment we can ensure the future for ourselves and may other living species on Earth. Thanks to all these actions now Tane no Chikara is receiving more help from the Kansai area and at the same time is helping the community to become stronger and bigger,

And you… what are you waiting for? Join us in this amazing experience of life.
