この曲はヒップホップグループ「デ・ラ・ソウル」の名盤2ndアルバム"De La Soul Is Dead"の、実質上の1曲目に当たる曲です。

初めて聴いたとき（2000年頃の国内盤CDにて）、「狂ってるのかな？」と勘違いした事をよく覚えています。

今、改めて歌詞を訳すと、「リリカル（叙情的）なライム（押韻詩）でディスとセルフボースト」をするオリジネーターということなのでしょうね。「マイクパス」についても考えさせられました。
