Mars migration plan solves global problems!

     Do you think it is worth the expense and risk to make a human flight to Mars? Mr. Elon Musk, the founder of the American company SpaceX, has announced that he will move one million people to Mars by the 2060s. I think it's worth it because I believe it has a good chance of solving the problems we face today, and I'm confident it will succeed. 

First, the food problem can be solved. Today, the world's population is about 7.7 billion, and the United Nations Information Centre indicates that if this trend continues, the population will be about 9.7 billion by 2050. The population will increase, but the area of the earth will not be able to increase, so it is clear that one day there will be a limit to food production. The surface area of the earth is about 150 million square kilometers, which is almost the same as the land area of Mars. This means that if it becomes possible to move to Mars, this large area will be used for cultivation and cattle raising. It is believed that fewer people will suffer from hunger than now. 

Secondly, I believe that we have to overcome the expense and risk to succeed. “It will be a difficult and dangerous journey with no guarantee of returning home alive. To be honest, a lot of people will die at first.” Euron Musk said on website, Yahoo!NewsJapan. Of course, some people will argue that we should stop because we feel sorry for the victims. However, I don't think we can succeed without sacrifice and expense. For example, when airplanes were not available, the only way we could go abroad was by boat. However, the desire to fly and move freely to wherever we wanted made us create airplane. The development of this technology cost a lot of money, and the accident rate was probably higher than it is today. However, thanks to that experiment, we now have a safe means of transportation and our lives have become better. The same can be said for flight to Mars. If it becomes common for humans to go to Mars, new businesses will be created, space travel companies and researchers will make money, and the money spent on the Mars migration project will eventually be recovered.

For this reason, I am in favor of this plan. After spending a lot of money and taking a lot of risks, the economy will grow and the problems on earth will be solved.
