初めての超望遠レンズでオオタカを撮影できた

今回は、最近買った超望遠レンズを持って散歩に出かけたらたまたまオオタカを撮影できたので、その時の様子や初めての超望遠レンズの感想を共有したいと思います。

初めての超望遠レンズでの撮影でオオタカに会えた

　超望遠レンズを買ったということで、扱いに慣れるためにも日課の散歩に超望遠レンズ（約2kg）を付けたカメラを持っていきました。

今まで付けていたレンズからすると約4〜5倍の重さがあるので、散歩に行って帰ってくるまでにどれだけ腕の力が残っているか、時々している筋トレの効果が試されましたが、結果的にはその効果はちゃんと出ていました。（よかった）

散歩コースの場所は程よく自然の環境があるところで、もちろん生き物もいろいろいます。

トンビやカラス、小さな野鳥、たまにイタチやヘビなど、色んな生き物を見ることができるちょっとした動物園なんですが、今回初めて見る鳥がいました。

タイトルにも書いてありますが、「オオタカ」という猛禽類の鳥です。

双眼鏡も持って行ってたので、何か居ないかなぁと木々が生い茂っている所を観察していると、トンビのような鳥が木に留まっていたのを発見したんですが、よく見ると色と模様が違う。

さらに寄りで見るために今回持ってきた超望遠レンズで見てみたら、明らかにトンビと違う鳥がいて、その時の気分がもうポケモンを見つけたみたいな感覚になって、一人で興奮していました。（笑）

高揚する気持ちを抑えつつ、冷静にカメラの設定をしてオオタカの写真を撮りました。
オオタカまでけっこうな距離があったためか、超望遠レンズに1.4倍のテレコンを付けて撮影しても、あまり寄ることはできませんでした。
オオタカのアップも撮りたかったですが、初めてオオタカを見れただけでも満足です。

そしてオオタカを見つけてからは良い写真が撮れるように何回もトライしていたんですが、その間に風が吹いていて、そうするとレンズが大きいので風の影響をものすごく受けるんですよね。

風が吹くとカメラがブレるので脇を締めてブレないようにしたり、ピントを合わせるにも木々が茂っている所なので、オートフォーカスの場合だとオオタカではなく木にピントが合ったりするので、そこでマニュアルフォーカスにしてみるんですが、かなり風に煽られるのでピント合わせが難しいこと難しいこと。

超望遠レンズの撮影の難しさを体感しました。

三脚があればいいのでしょうが、まだ超望遠レンズに最適な三脚や雲台を持っていないので、今回のことを経験して早く買わないといけないなぁと感じました。

そんな感じでひたすら撮影しているとオオタカの元にカラスが来て、オオタカを警戒しているような、追い払おうとしているような様子も見れました。

この散歩コースではよく、トンビとカラスがケンカのような事をしているのを見るので、今回オオタカとカラスの対峙は新鮮でした。

カラスの度胸の強さというのも今回垣間見れることができたのでそういったところでも今回良いものを見れたなと思います。

とにかく、初めての超望遠レンズを持っての撮影、しかも散歩がてらでオオタカを撮れたのはすごく運が良かったんではないのかなと思います。

今後の撮影がすごく楽しみです。
また何か撮影することができたりしたら共有したいと思います。

I also had my binoculars with me, and as I was observing the densely wooded area, hoping to spot something, I noticed a bird perched like a kite. Upon closer inspection, its color and pattern were different.

Using the super-telephoto lens I brought along, I realized it was not a kite but a different bird entirely. The excitement I felt at that moment was akin to discovering a Pokémon, and I couldn't help but laugh to myself.

Trying to contain my excitement, I calmly set up my camera and took a picture of the goshawk. Despite the distance and even with the 1.4x teleconverter attached to the super-telephoto lens, I couldn't get much closer. Although I wished for a close-up of the goshawk, simply seeing it for the first time was satisfying enough.

After spotting the goshawk, I made several attempts to capture a good photo. However, the wind was blowing, significantly affecting the lens due to its size. The wind caused camera shake, so I tightened my grip to stabilize it, and focusing was challenging among the dense trees. The auto-focus often locked onto a tree instead of the goshawk, prompting me to switch to manual focus, which was quite difficult due to the wind.

I experienced firsthand the challenges of shooting with a super-telephoto lens.

A tripod would have been helpful, but since I don't yet own one suitable for the super-telephoto lens, this experience underscored the urgent need to purchase one.

As I continued shooting, a crow approached the goshawk, displaying caution or attempting to drive it away.

In this walking route, it's common to see kites and crows engaging as if they're quarreling, so witnessing the standoff between the goshawk and the crow was a fresh experience.

I also got a glimpse of the courage of the crows, which added value to this encounter.

All in all, being able to photograph a goshawk with my first super-telephoto lens during a casual walk felt incredibly lucky.

I'm really looking forward to future photography sessions. If I manage to capture something else, I'd love to share it again.
