かつて朝日新聞の一面に詩歌についてのコラムが載っていた

高浜虚子『六百五十句』

この俳句を知ったのは、大岡信さんのコラム「折々のうた」を通じてだったと思う。大岡さんはこのように解説している。

昭和二十五年十二月二十日、新春放送用に作った句という。当時七十六歳。
「去年今年」は、昨日が去年で今日は今年という一年の変わり目をとらえ、ぐんと大きく表現した新年の季語。
虚子の句はこの季語の力を最大限に利用して、新春だけに限らず、去年をも今年をも丸抱えにして貫流する天地自然の理への思いをうたう。
「貫く棒の如きもの」の強さは大したもので、快作にして怪作というべきか。

大岡信「折々のうた」

大岡さんの解説は、簡にして要を得ているので、付け加えることがない。たった１７文字で、強い印象を与え、年の替わりによく思い出す。

「折々のうた」は、ウィキペディアによると、１９７９年１月２５日から２００７年３月３１日まで、途中に休載をはさんで掲載された。新聞の一面に、詩歌に関するコラムが連載されるのは、かなり珍しいことだという。

この長期間、一人の書き手がコラムを書き続けたことに感心するしかない。

一方、私は、最近、noteへの投稿の頻度が下がった。テーマはいっぱい抱えているのだけれど、文章にまとめる気力が弱くなったのだろう。

あるいは、今年、嘱託社員の契約が終わるので、再就職のための準備にエネルギーを取られたせいかもしれない。久しぶりに履歴書を書き、初めて職務経歴書を書いたら、くたびれてしまった。こんなことで、再就職できるのだろうか？

そのことについては、改めて書こうと思う。

タイトル写真は、岩波新書『折々のうた』。これは、朝日新聞の連載を、岩波新書にまとめた本です。１９８０年の初版は３２０円でした。今買うと、８８０円もします。私は、この初版を、古書として３３５円で買いました。

There used to be a column about poetry on the front page of the Asahi Shimbun.

I think I learned about this haiku by  Takahama Kyoshi through Makoto Ooka's column "Occasional Songs." Mr. Ooka explains it like this.

On December 20, 1950, it is said that he made a haiku for the New Year broadcast. He was seventy-six years old at the time. “Last year this year” is a new year’s season word that expresses the transition of the year, where yesterday was last year and today is this year.
Kyoshi's haiku makes the most of the power of this seasonal word, not only for the New Year, but for last year and this year as well, expressing his thoughts on the principles of nature and nature.
The strength of "Things Like A Piercing Stick" is great, and it should be said that it is a masterpiece that other people cannot write.

Makoto Ooka “Occasional Songs”

Mr. Ooka's explanation is brief and to the point, so I have nothing to add. With only 17 characters, the impression is strong, and I often remember it in place of such a year.

According to Wikipedia, "Occasional Songs" was published from January 25, 1979 to March 31, 2007, with a pause in between. It is rather unusual for a newspaper to have a column about poetry on the front page.

I can't help but admire that one writer has continued to write a column for this long period of time.

On the other hand, I recently posted less frequently to note. I have a lot of themes, but I guess I've lost the energy to summarize them in sentences.

Or maybe it's because the contract of a temporary employee ends this year, so I was consuming energy to prepare for re-employment. When I wrote my resume for the first time in a long time and my first job history, I was exhausted. Will I be able to get a job again?

I will write about it again.

The title photo is Iwanami Shinsho's Occasional Songs. This is a book that summarizes the Asahi Shimbun serialization in Iwanami Shinsho. The first edition in 1980 was 320 yen. If you buy it now, it costs 880 yen. I bought this first edition as an old book for 335 yen.
