Production Notes #18 "Pray for Safety"

Finally, it was time to start filming. All the actors and actresses arrived in Tokushima, where the staff had been preparing for the shoot. We headed straight from the airport to pray for the safety of the shoot. We had prepared everything we could think of. But I still wanted to say a prayer. You are right to aim for a good film. Our first priority was to make sure that no one was injured or sick until the film was completed. I asked the Shinto priest to purify the staff and actors, as well as everyone on location and extras. A friend of mine who is a Shinto priest graciously agreed to do it. Afterwards, we had dinner together as if it were a kickoff party. As I watched the party, I wondered if my friends would be able to communicate with each other. I think it's important for a film to have everyone who is making it to become "friends". Although there were still some distant feelings of having never met each other before, I felt that this team might become a lifelong friend. To be continued.
