英検1級二次の面接で「伝わりやすい理由」をつくる方法
はじめに
この記事では、英検1級二次の面接試験で「伝わりやすい理由」をつくる方法について紹介します。
手順の概要をまず紹介します。
手順①トピック毎に「13の万能な理由」を日本語で簡単に列挙する
手順②ChatGPT先生に依頼して、上記手順①を整理、肉付けして英文を生成してもらう。その際にCEFRレベルを指定する
手順③生成された英文のうち、本番でも言いたい理由を中心に身に付ける
手順④過去問などで新しいトピックで上記手順③の理由を使って慣れる＆言いたい理由を見つける
ChatGPT先生に依頼する際のテンプレートなど、具体的な手順については後述していきます。
まずは、聞きなれないであろう「13の万能な理由」についてご紹介します。
「13の万能な理由」とは
オンライン家庭教師の内山先生が下記のブログで紹介している、ライティングやスピーチで汎用的に使える 13 の理由です。
(ちなみに勝手に内山先生とお呼びしていますが、教わる前に英検1級2次試験に合格したので私は面識がありません・・・)
13の万能な理由

上記のブログでは、スピーチの理由を上記 13 個の理由から考えるようにすることで時間を節約できることが記されています。
スピーチなどで汎用的に使える理由について数個の理由を紹介している記事は見かけたことがありますが、ここまで網羅的に紹介している記事を私は目にしたことがありませんでした。
さて、英語力が高い人は上記の情報だけでも十分なヒントになり、上記から理由を挙げるようにすることでスピーチしやすくなると思います。
私は英語力がそれほど高くないため、ChatGPT 先生の力を借りて英文を生成していただきました。
この方法のメリット
具体的な手順に移る前に、この方法のメリットについて整理します。
13の理由は汎用的に使える理由です。トリッキーな理由でもなく、限られた時間で面接官に理由を伝えて理解していただくことができます。
13の理由で回答すると制約したことで、シンプルに理由を考えることができます。緊張感のある本番でこのシンプルさが役に立ちます。
13の理由は多くもなく少なくもない数です。あるテーマが与えられた時に13の理由で考えれば3個くらいの理由がすぐに出てきます。
13の理由のどれかを理由に使って回答するので、段々慣れてきます。例えば過去問5つに対してそれぞれ13の理由を考えると、同じ理由の観点で5個分のトレーニングになります。その分、同じ理由を使うことに慣れていきます。当たり前ですが、同じ理由の観点なので、内容や切り口は似てきます。同じ理由を使うほど習熟してきます。
13 の理由の中には、応用の利く理由が見つかります。別のトピックでも同じ理由が使えることがあります。
ChatGPTなどの生成AIに依頼すると、自分で思いついた13の理由のアイデアを整理してくれ、さらに英文も生成してくれます。自分のアイデアが教材になるので、自分に合っている教材になります。
CEFR レベルを指定することで、むずかしすぎない英文が手に入ります。
具体的な手順
手順①トピック毎に「13の万能な理由」を日本語で簡単に列挙する
例えば、「Can Japan ever repeat the successful economic performance it enjoyed in the past?」(2022-3出題) を例に取ります。
Agree(賛成) の立場の立場を決めて、13 の理由の中から 9 個の理由を挙げてみました。理由は思いついたというだけです。理由が妥当かどうかはとくに考えず、13 の理由で挙げられるものならよしとします。
Agree:
Health （健康）：国民は健康でシニアも活躍できる。
Safety （安全性）：日本は犯罪率が少なく経済活動の下地がある。
Convenience （利便性）：日本は効率的な輸送手段が発達している。便利な商店がたくさんある。
Communication （コミュニケーション）：日本語が話せる国民が1億人いる。
Law （法）：日本の法制度は機能しており海外からの投資を安全に行える。
Desire （願望）：バブル経済の反省から手堅い経済成長ができる。
Education （教育）：国内で高等教育機関が充実しておりハイテク人材も豊富
Economy （経済）：経済基盤が安定しており投資可能な資源がある。
Technology （科学技術）：近年は半導体生産への投資が豊富
手順②ChatGPT先生に依頼して、上記①を整理、肉付けして英文を生成してもらう。その際にCEFRレベルを指定する
プロンプト(ChatGPTへの指示文)の例は下記です。生成AIの特徴として、毎回同じ文が生成されるわけではありませんのでご留意ください。また、日本語が必要な場合には適宜変換させてください。
なお、私は ChatGPT4(有料)で生成した英文を使用しました(なんとなく ChatGPT3.5 だと CEFR のレベル指定がうまくいかないと感じたことがあったのです)。参考までに ChatGPT3.5 で生成した英文も載せます。

以下は「Can Japan ever repeat the successful economic performance it enjoyed in the past?」について調べた際に作成したメモです。分かりやすいように CEFR B1 レベルの英文に修正して、さらに具体例やニュースを追加してください。内容は箇条書きにまとめてください。

手順③生成された英文のうち、本番でも言いたい理由を中心に身に付ける
私は生成された英文をひととおり音読筆写してみました。その上で、上記であれば Technology 以外の英文は使いやすく、本番でも違和感なく使えそうな感じだったので、本番までに繰り返し音読筆写しました。実際に本番で使った箇所もあります。
手順④過去問などで新しいトピックで上記③の理由を使って慣れる＆言いたい理由を見つける
私は 10 トピック程度について以上の方法を使って英文を出しました。
また、それ以外の過去問のトピックでスピーチを試すことで、応用が利きそうな英文がどれかということが分かってきましたので、応用が利きそうな英文や自分が本番で言いたい理由を中心に英文を選定して、それを本番までに音読筆写で集中的におぼえました。
