It goes without saying that, since the acquisition of language by human-being, various myths and legends have been created throughout the world.

人類が言語を獲得して以降、世界中に、様々な神話・説話が創造されてきたことは、言うまでもない。

Some of them have a certain (linguistic) composition. This is a story, having the relation with [[power] and [altitude]]. Let's take a look at examples of this.

それらの中に、ある種の(言語上の)構図を持ったものがある。[[権威]と[高度]] が関係してくる話である。その例を、これから見てみよう。

(1) [Tower of Babel], (Migdal Babel), [バベルの塔]

This is a story from the Old Testament, and the synopsis is as follows.

　Human-beings made up their mind,
　"Come on! Let's build a town, let's build a tower, a tower so high, it reaches to the heavens!"
　God descended, and observed the state of the construction.
　God was determined to stop the construction, and God came up with a plan.
　God descended, and caused human-beings, to use various different languages.
　　(It seems that, until then, they had been using a single language, which allowed them, to carry out the construction work, efficiently.)
　As a result, the construction began to be hampered, and finally, the project to build the tower was abandoned.
　And, from there, human-beings dispersed and migrated to different areas.

これは、旧約聖書に書かれている話で、そのあらすじは、以下のようなものである。

　人間たちは、一念発起した、
　「さぁ、町を造ろう、塔を造ろう、天に届くほど高い塔を！」
　神は、下降し、その工事の様を、観察した。
　神は、その工事をストップさせてしまおうと、決意し、ある策を立てた。
　神は下降し、人間たちが、様々な異なる言語を使うように、ならしめた。
　（それまでは、人間たちは、単一の言語を使用していた、だから、効率よく工事を行うことができてきた、ということのようだ）。
　その結果、工事に支障をきたし始め、ついに、塔の建設事業は、放棄された。
　そして、人々は、そこから、様々な地域へ、分散・移住していった。

Maybe, if you search the Internet, using the key word, such as, [Pieter Bruegel De Toren van Babel], [Gustave Doré Confusion des langues], you can see the work, representing this tower, via Internet.

[ブリューゲル バベルの塔]、 [ギュスターヴ・ドレ 言葉の混乱] 等のキーワードを使用してインターネット検索すれば、この塔を描いた作品を、インターネット経由で鑑賞することができるかもしれない。

The following figure (Fig 1) shows, how [[power] and [altitude]] is related to this story.

この話に、[[権威]と[高度]] が、どのように関係してくるのかを示したのが、下図(Fig 1)である。

The composition is such that,
[God] (who has greater [power] than Human-beings) is in the [sky] (greater in [altitude]).
　And
[Human-beings] (who have less [power] than God) [are] on [earth] ( lesser in [altitude]).

　[神](人間よりも、大きい権威を持つ) は、[天空](高度が、より大きい)に、あり
　[人間たち](神よりも、小さい権威を持つ)は、[地上](高度が、より小さい)に、あり

という、構図になっている。

2 [Arrow of Nimrôd]. [ニムロッドの矢]

The synopsis of this story is as follows.

Nimrôd shot an arrow, toward heaven (i.e., upward, toward God).  The arrow was thrown back to the earth by God, and landed on Nimrôd's body....

この話のあらすじは、以下のようなものである。

ニムロド(Nimrôd)は、神に向けて、天の方向へ（すなわち、上の方向に）、矢を放った。その矢は、神によって、地上に投げ返され、ニムロドの身体上に・・・。

I heared that, there are stories, similar to this, in various places of the world, and these are categorized in [genre, Nimrod's arrow type]. Also in Japan, there is a myth of [Amenowakahiko], that belongs to this type.

これに似たような話が、世界の様々な地にあり、[ニムロドの矢型の説話]というジャンルに、分類されているのだそうだ。日本にも、この型に属する、[アメノワカヒコ]の神話がある。

[The relation between [[power] and [altitude]], and [this story]]
is exactly the same, as in Fig 1 (above).

[この話への、[権威]と[高度]の関り方]
は、前記Fig 1 と全く同様だ。

(3) Transfer of [Ashiharano-Nakatukuni], [アシハラノナカツクニ]の譲渡

This is a story, written in a Japanese book, called [Kojiki]. The synopsis of this story is as follows.

[Amaterasu], who lives in [Takamaga-hara], declared that,

"[Ashiharano-Nakatukuni] is the land, where my son [Ameno-Oshihomimi] should rule."

So, [Amaterasu] made [Ameno-oshihomimi], to [descend], from [Takamaga-hara], to [Ashiharano-Nakatukuni].

[Ameno-Oshihomimi] observed the situation in [Ashiharano-Nakatukuni], and thought,

"That land is very, very ungovernable."

[Ameno-Oshihomimi] returned to [Takamaga-hara], and reported that, to his mother.

So, [Amaterasu] called a meeting, and consulted the members present,

"That land seems to be a terrible place. There are many members, with immense power, who could become adversaries. Someone must go there, to settle the land. Is there anyone, who is qualified?"

So, [Ameno-hohi] was sent to [Ashiharano-Nakatukuni].

However, [Ameno-hohi] was always trying to curry favor with [Okuni-nushi] ( the ruler of [Ashiharano-Nakatukuni]), and remained there, and did not report to [Amaterasu] at all.

So, next, [Ameno-wakahiko] was sent.

However, [Ameno-wakahiko], with his ambition to become the next ruler of [Ashiharano-Nakatukuni], remained there, and did not report to [Amaterasu] at all.

To resolve the situation, [Take-mikazuchi] and another members, were sent. As a result of their strong pressure ( to [Okuni-nushi] ), [Okuni-nushi] agreed to hand over [Ashiharano-Nakatukuni] to [Amaterasu].

And, [Ninigi] ([Amaterasu]'s grandson) [descend], from [Takamaga-hara], to [Ashiharano-Nakatukuni] (to rule over [Ashiharano-Nakatskuni]).

これは、[古事記]という、日本の書物に書かれている話で、そのあらすじは、以下のようなものである。

[タカマガハラ(高天原)]に、住んでいる[アマテラス]は、
　「[アシハラノナカツクニ(葦原中国)]は、我が息子・[アメノオシホミミ]　が統治すべき地である」
と、宣言した。

そこで、[アマテラス]は、[アメノオシホミミ]を、[アシハラノナカツクニ]に向けて、[天降（あまくだ）]した。

[アメノオシホミミ]は、[アシハラノナカツクニ]の状況を観察して、思った、

　「あそこは、とても、統治できそうにない。」
　
[アメノオシホミミ]は、[タカマガハラ]に帰還し、母に、その旨を報告した。

そこで、[アマテラス]は、会議を招集し、列席メンバーに対して、諮問した、

　「かの地は、敵対勢力になりうる、勢威の強いものどもが、いっぱいおる、とんでもない所であるようじゃ。誰かに、あそこへ行ってもらわねば、ならぬのぉ。かの地を、平定するためにのぉ。誰か、適任の者は、おらぬか？」

と、いうことで、[アメノホヒ]が、[アシハラノナカツクニ]へ、派遣されることになった。

ところが、[アメノホヒ]は、[オオクニヌシ]([アシハラノナカツクニ]の統治者)のご機嫌取りに終始し、そのまま、そこに居続け、[アマテラス]への報告を、一切してこない。

そこで、次に、[アメノワカヒコ]が、派遣された。

しかし、[アメノワカヒコ]は、[アシハラノナカツクニ]の次の統治者になろう、という野心を抱き、、そのまま、そこに居続け、[アマテラス]への報告を、一切してこない。

事態打開のために、[タケミカヅチ]たちが、派遣された。彼らからの、強圧の結果、[オオクニヌシ]は、[アシハラノナカツクニ]を、[アマテラス]に譲ることに、同意した。

そして、[ニニギ]（アマテラスの孫）が、[アシハラノナカツクニ]へ、([アシハラノナカツクニ]を統治するために)、[天降り(あまくだり)]した。

The way [[power] and [altitude]] relate to this story,
would be, as shown in the figure below (Fig 2).

There is the predominance of [Amaterasu] ( in [Takamaga-hara]) over [Okuni-nushi] ( in [Ashiharano-Nakatukuni]).

この話への、[[権威]と[高度]]の関わり方は、下図(Fig 2)のようになるのだろう。

[アマテラス]([タカマガハラ]にいる)は、[オオクニヌシ]([アシハラノナカツクニ]にいる) よりも優位にある。
